My kids want me to fit in both WP & DQ the week we're going.

Is it crazy to think I could go Sunday mid afternoon on 8/14?

I'm hoping since school is starting for alot of kids in the south on Monday the crowds will be lighter.

Does this make sense or is it wishful thinking :)

I'd go with "wishful thinking!"

Water parks are always crowded with locals on the weekends. And if you get there mid-afternoon in August you are risking 1) having a very short stay due to thunderstorms, or 2) having a day with no thunderstorms and very very long lines for everything.

If you're willing to risk getting rained out, you could have the perfect day. Chances are you won't find a chair until after 3pm, but a chair isn't really needed if you are going to be on the slides. Our favorite time to go is 2 hours before park closing.

The very best time to visit any of the water parks is on a rainy day. When it's 90 degrees outside and it's rainy, the people stay away from the water parks. We have had 2 of the best times going in the rain. It was a slow misty kind of rain. We covered everything in 3 hours. The kids thought it was a real treat to swim in the rain. That was the this year, the day before Easter. We had BB all to ourselves. The other time we went in the afternoon. There was a thunderstorm which cleared out the people, then it continued to rain afterward. The rain was a warm rain, so we stayed it out and had a great time at TL.
