Ok for those that are interested, we did have a DIS meet this past Sunday at the BelleVue Room,
In attendance (in no particular order) were
Maistre Gracey and Mrs.
CarolMN and Mr.
Tamar and Mr.
Magicmommy and Mr.
Magicmommy’s friend (who’s posted but, just a couple of times) and Mr.
and Me - Gtrist4life (solo, spouse and son wanted to swim on one of the only nice sunny days of the trip, can’t blame em.)
It was really fun to put faces with screen names. We stayed for about an hour, discussing DVC and other Disney topics.
I did ask what the first concert everyone went to and the answers ranged from
The Carpenters and The Cowsils to
The Police and Bob Seger,
To Alice Cooper and Ted Nugent
Quite the range of artistic talent there folks, seriously you can tell that the DVC Dis’ers are a group of dedicated vacationers who like to have fun!
I also took a picture of the group and if no one has any objections (PM me if you do) will post it later.
My trip report –
Night 1 – DoubleTree Castle – Fun resort, I-Drive is definitely a tourist trap type area, but clean and not extremely tacky. We had a terrible meal at Vito’s Chop House, not recommended.
Day 2 – Sea World – Lots of fun, mild crowds, got to see most of the shows we wanted to before we checked into SSR around 4:45pm. Stayed in a studio in the GrandStand, LOVED THIS LOCATION, and thought the resort was absolutely gorgeous and peaceful!
Day 3 – Thrill rides in the AM with DS, Epcot F&W with DW and DS. Left Epcot early as the guests were having a bit too much festival for our tastes and it was really crowded, went to MGM and as soon as we got off the boat, the rain poured. Really enjoyed the rest of the evening in a mostly empty park
Day 4 – Sleep in, Dis meet at BW, then MNSSHP. Really enjoyed this event and could not believe the amount of candy shoveled into our bags! Lots of fun seeing the guests dressed up and all the characters about in different places.
Day 5 – Check out and hop over to POFQ for beignets, then a bit of Outlet Mall shopping before heading back to reality in Mid-Missouri.
Overall impressions
- Loved SSR it like every other DVC resort we’ve stayed at has it’s own charms and benefits
-Weather was dreary for almost the whole trip, but we still had fun and only got seriously rained on once.
- Due to the declining dollar, we saw lots and lots of guest from the UK and other locations.
- Guest behavior was mixed, seemed like we encountered more rude people in the parks this trip then previous trips. There should be an etiquette manual written/sent when people book vacations. Just the golden rule would work in most instances.
- First time with no sit down reservations and renting a car. Both worked out well (hit Artist Pallette quite a bit and we liked that convenience)
Great trip as always and can’t wait for next June at BWV when we travel with our good friends who are first timers
Peace, G4L
