Sunblock

Bullfrog spray is great for kids and adults. It comes in a blue bottle. The face stick is good, also.

I asked my derm what he suggests for my upcoming Panama cruise. He said Solbar Zinc 38. I ordered from www.coolibar.com Kind of pricey, but should be worth it.

"SolBar SPF 38 Zinc was formulated to provide multi-spectrum sun protection, i.e. high protection against both UVA and UVB radiation. In a cream base that works for all skin types. Excellent for patients with skin sensitivities - very water resistant - non irritating - micronized - invisible on the skin."

In addition to this, I will most likely bring some Coppertone sport to fill in. FYI/ consumer reports did a study on suncreens, and no-ad they found blocked only 80% of the UVA rays. UVB is responsible for sunburn, though UVA penetrates skin more deeply.

What SPF are you using of NO AD? I only use the SPF 45 since it costs the same. It was rated the same as the rest by Consumer Reports.
On Saturday's I often umpire 3 little league games, so I am out in the sun for 8 hours then, plus take blood pressure medicine that makes me more sensitive to the sun, never burned or even got red with No Ad (or any other brand for that matter). I reapply every 2 hours.

I used to find a great spray that went right through my remaining hair to protect my scalp. It wasn't creamy or oily, more like the consistency of cologne and sprayed on similarly. With most of the sunscreen lotions, I have to work it down to my scalp despite the thinness of my hair and always worry I'll miss just one spot. Yowch!

Anybody have a recommendation for scalp protection with thinning hair? Other than a hat or bandana, which I won't want to wear in the water.

TIA

BTW - Our favorite sunscreen is Ocean Potion, which was recommended by my daughters dermatologist. It does not contain PABA (which we used No-ADD for years) but another chemical with better UV protection. Its just as inexpensive as No-ADD and smells a lot better.

Their website is http://www.opotion.com

We buy ours at WalMart, but the website has a store locator by state.

Robin, I was just at my dermatologist today with Becca. She has horrible excema. I asked about what type of sunscreen to use this year. The answer for us was Blue Lizard. I followed your link above and it was there! I guess it is made by the same company. The key from our derm was to get something that is zinc or titanium based -- not an oxysomething based.

Have you tried it yet? I'm concerned it is going to be too goopy for me.
