i usually go to the tanning salon before my disney vacation but this year i havent gone yet. so i was wondering if anyone knows of a good sunblock or sunscreen that prevents you from getting a sunburn but gives you a nice tan?? my DS10 :earsboy: is olive skinned so i dont need to worry about him, but i am a fair redhead and i always get a sunburn. :confused3 i want to come home with a nice tan!!!!!!!!

Two years ago I bought a bottle of tanning oil from Hawaiian Tropics that also contained SPF. It was perfect for tanning without burning!

Just do what I did..Buy a tanning bed and stick it in your bedroom and have absolutely NO walking room in there whatsoever but have a awesome tan before you leave..LOL (I didn't buy it for the disney trip I got a GREAT DEAL on it that I COULD NOT pass up)

I agree with the PP get tanning oil that has SOME SPF in it. I put SPF 45 on my DD's and the little boogers still get tanned.

Just don't get too burnt because nothing can ruin a vacation quicker than a sunburn!!! YUCK!!!!

I tan also year round but sometimes in Florida, I will use either Panama Jack with like a 3 sunscreen or Hawaiian Tropics lotion about the same sunscreen wise....I try never to hit an 8!. :rolleyes1

Depending on your skin type and fainess level you nay need a higher # like 15 or 8. I am pretty fair and use Hawaiian tropic 15 for 2 days and then move down to 8 and after a week if it's sunny I have a nice tan-just don't forget to reapply every so often. As a mom of a 18 yo girl I am constantly telling her that when it comes to getting a nice tan slow & steady wins the race-if you get a bad burn the first day or two you will just end up peeling. My DH who has a dark olive type complextion gets reall dark using the HT #8 . :sunny:

I usually use Hawaiian Tropic 15 for the few few days-then an 8 when I have built a little color. Do you have any time at all to get in a few tanning bed sessions before you go? That would help build up the melanin and improve your chances of not burning when you are away. :)

well, we leave in 31 days so i do have some time to go to the tanning salon.i just really hate going because no matter which one i go to its always like a teen hangout & i feel so uncomfortable walking in there! but yes u are right, im going to look into a few tanning sessions. i dont want a bad burn in disney!! :earsgirl:

I use an Austrailian Gold SPF 15 with a bronzer!

Of coarse if your skin is fair and you are in the Florida sun especially in June/July/ August you will FRY! :sunny:

i went to the tanning salon the other night and im going to go again tonight & try to go every 2 or 3 days til my trip (28 days!!!) :cool1:
