Summer's Planning Journal 08/20 Update 08/10/07

Not yet, but it was sent out on Monday. I have no idea how long it should take but she has sent it using Global Priority Service. Normally anything from the States takes about 7 days or so, but I know they say to allow for 3 weeks. I'm not sure how big the package will be:confused3 It's a shame cause I found other items that I decided I wanted to purchase but I couldn't add it to my order as it was pending. I may have to put in another order as I think I may go for the Unity candles on there, plus my mom wants those crystal pins for her hair too:goodvibes

Yes I'm looking at getting my bm dresses on there as they are around 50% cheaper than here! we are going to try them on at a shop on saturday so then I'll wait to make sure your order is ok then order them, its always good to order from somewhere you know that someone has already ordered from

:thumbsup2

I am just subscribing to your planning journal! You are so organized and I just love everything that you have picked out.
Thanks for sharing!

Well, I went shopping yesterday with my mom and I bought my tiara. Here is a pic of it:

I absolutely love it, I tried on several but I fell in love with this one, I like how I can adjust the crystals in to position. I had my necklace with me to make sure it went together. I definately needed a sparkly tiara, as I am having crystal Mickeys in bouquet and crystals down the side of my bouquet, also with the crystal wedding purse, I think everything will go really well.

My mom also got her dress for the Wedding, she is wearing a black and vanilla silk dress, here is a pic:

It looks great on her, she is just looking for a shrug or shawl of some sort as she doesn't particularly like spaghetti straps. We had no idea we would manage to get her outfit yesterday, so it was a great find, it also goes with my color theme of black, white and yellow:thumbsup2
She will be buying a black purse and black shoes so she can wear these things again.

I am still waiting on my delivery from ShopforBridal, and I really hope it comes soon, it's only been a week, but I'm really anxious to get it, I can't wait to see my gloves and shoes!

I love that tiara, where did you buy i from?

I'm hoping to make mine, I have a class tomorrow and I cant wait

I got the tiara from Debenhams, I was really surprised actually, I wasn't even sure if they sold tiaras. I was so happy to find this as it was really similar to the one I tried on at the bridal salon but that was more than double the price.

Well as many of you know I have been debating what to do regarding my wedding date. I initially thought that changing to a scheduled flight might be easier, but I am still waiting to hear back from my TA to tell me the cost of this and what it would involve.
So I have now set in motion the plan to change my wedding date to August 20th instead of August 17th. I really, really do not want to do this but I am now constantly worried about delays with flights so this looks like it may be the better option.
I have emailed all my outside vendors and have so far heard back from Beauty Speciale (available) Carolyn Allens (available) and Tanis (SBP available at 10.00am on the 20th) I am still waiting to hear back from Randy, Rev Randall Miller and Stan. I have sent urgent emails to all of them again as I desperately need to know so I can put this change in motion. If I don't hear back by this evening, I will call them all today. I will also need to change some of my ADR's.

I have also heard back from Tanis regarding the upgrade cost on my cake. It will be $80.00 for the cake I have chosen with the yellow (sugar) calla lillies and black satin ribbon. Personally I think this is all right but I haven't told my DF yet, hoping I can maybe slip it in without him noticing:guilty: I really love the look of this cake, but I don't know if it's worth upgrading, what do you guys think?

I also have still not received my package from Shop for Bridal yet. They have said to allow for 3-4 weeks so it's only been 2 weeks, but I am getting anxious. Normally packages only take 9 days or so from the US, so I really hope it hasn't got lost.:sad2:

The tiara is beautiful! I have to get one too but am going to wait a while because I have so much time.
I hope that eveything works out with the date change - I am sure it will. Your cake sounds beautiful! Your DF doesn't need to know about the extra $80.00 does he? :lmao: I say go for it. I have gone over budget on almost everything so far. I know I will kick myself in the end but its worth it for your wedding day right???

If that's the cake you really want, you should go for it! Maybe it's just because the cake I originally wanted was going to be $300 extra, $80 sounds like nothing :rotfl: I would totally do it.

Okay, I've done it. I've emailed every outside vendor and Tanis and changed my date from August 17th 2007 to August 20th 2007. We are still having our wedding at 10.00am and at Sea Breeze Point.
I also had to change my Bridal Photo Shoot from Aug 18th at 05.00am to Aug 21st at 05.00am (still to be confirmed)
I changed my ADR's so we are still going to Citricos for our wedding lunch at 12.15 and we are going to V & A at's 6.45pm.
I have booked Randy to come back at 10.00pm to shoot Wishes from The GF Marina/Poly Beach and WP, so he will return for an hour.
I had to change my Coral Reef booking as I had booked a diver on Aug 20th at 7.30pm so we are now eating at Coral Reef on Aug 17th at 7.30pm and I scheduled the diver again.
I told Tanis to go ahead with the cake as in the grand scheme of things $80 doesn't seem like much extra, and I do really love the cake.
I now seem to have it in my head though that we should arrive on the 16th of August and go to The Caribbean Beach Resort for 3 nights and then move to The Wilderness Lodge for 4 nights (night prior to our wedding). I love the look of The WL but chose CBR as it was cheaper, however I keep looking at The WL and wondering how much extra it would cost. So I have called up my TA and asked how much extra we would be for the 4 nights. Hopefully she will get back to me today with a good price:thumbsup2 This would mean 3 Disney hotel swaps for my DF and I but it doesn't bother me in the slightest!

It all sounds so fantastic Summer! I'm so excited for you. I think you made the right decision about the cake. Now you'll know that you're getting exactly what you want.

I love your tiara!

summer, I think I'm more excited for your wedding that I was for my own ;)

Awww, that means so much, thank you:hug: I loved your TR, I only hope I can write one just as good. A 3 week TR

I'm glad everything is coming together, especially with the date switch! I love CBR and WL (obviously!). Those would be really nice places to stay. Also, $80 for the cake is not much. Our cake upgrade was $265 :scared1: but it was COMPLETELY worth it!!

I have to agree...$80 isn't much compared to some of the upgrade costs I have seen on here. I am waiting to find out just how much the upgrade we would like is going to be. JanDJ, can you post a picture of yours, I don't think I remember seeing one of yours !

Sorry to butt in on this thread, but I just wanted to say that I think you're doing the right thing by changing your wedding date to August 20th. Even if you don't experience any delays with your flight (and I hope you don't!) the extra days will give you a chance to adjust to the time difference and get your bearings before the ceremony.:cool2:

I've been reading these boards for a few months now :surfweb: and I've gotten some great ideas from you all. DH and I want to do a Vow Renewal for our 25th anniversary in 2009 so I need all the help I can get! Its never to early to plan is it?!

Everything you have arranged looks great, and I wish you every happiness on your special day!

This was our custom cake - it was exactly what I envisioned in my head and tasted as good as it looked :goodvibes The flowers were fondant, so edible, but not really . . .

Well you can scratch the staying at WL for 4 nights cause it came back way too expensive. I have now decided to split my CBR stay to 3 nights (Thur, Fri, Sat) prior to the wedding and on the eve of the wedding swap to either POR or POFQ. I am struggling to choose between these, but I'm leaning more towards POFQ (thanks Tiffany:hug: ) I will be doing this as a surprise to my DF and my mom. Before we booked this wedding, DF wanted to stay at Port Orleans, but I ended up booking CBR, so I think it would be great to surprise him with this split stay. So if anyone cares to offer up there opinions on eithe POR or POFQ, feel free:rolleyes1
Also, I have received my things from Shop for Bridal, and they are amazing.
My shoes are absolutely gorgeous, I mean totally amazing, I can easily wear them again, and they are so sparkly:love: My gloves are great too, I am undecided whether I will scrunch them up slightly, as they are satin and come above the elbow and I figure I will spend all day smoothing them out, so leaving them scrunched may be better, the gloves are fingerless which is fantastic. My hair pins are gorgeous also, I think my mom may want these, so I may have to order another set. There are a few more things on the site that I wouldn't mind purchasing:idea:
I think that's all for now!

POR vs. POFQ: Of course the people on the Resorts board may be more helpful than I, but what I've heard is that POFQ, being smaller, is easier to navigate, feels more intimate, and has the first bus stop at the resort....

Hey Summer,

I just finished sending you as many Randy POFQ pictures as I could. I was having a hard time getting them to load this morning. Looking at them just makes me want to get on a plane and go back. Like right now. The one thing I should say is that the grounds should be even more lush when you're there because I was there in the middle of winter when the leaves on the deciduous trees were gone. That was actually very strange for me as a Canadian. Here when the leaves go....the warm goes too....so having the warm climate was strange.

I'm glad that your shoes and gloves are perfect. :woohoo: That's such a great feeling.
