Summer's Planning Journal 08/20 Update 08/10/07

the only thing that matters is how you feel in the gown - money is secondary...I'm glad to see you so ecstatic ....can't wait to see the detailing with the black accents! and thanks for your suggestion....I am going to my local material store to buy my sash material after I talk to my seamstress..

Finally after loads of going back and forth between different styles of rings. I have settled on a trilogy, 18K white gold, emerald ring. The centre stone is 2 carats and the side stones are 0.5. I am having the stones put into a cathedral basket, because I love high rings. Here is a picture of a similar ring, without the cathedral basket.

I decided that I am consistently drawn to 3 stone rings. I initially tried to go for solitaire as I am aware that it's traditional, but I couldn't take my eyes of these types of rings. I hadn't considered emerald stones because I thought I was always drawn to Princess Cut stones. However when trying on the rings it was the emerald styles that I fell in love with. I am a modern girl and I loved the clean lines of these stones.

It has had to be ordered as they didn't have the cathedral basket setting. I knew straight away that I loved that setting but it was difficult to obtain with emerald stones. I have been advised that it should be in within 21 days, so I'm hoping it will be. I'll be sure to post pics when I receive it. I think I may go for a plain wedding ring now as I don't want to detract from my engagement ring.

Other news... My new wedding dress will apparently be in the beginning of July. She has said that gives them ample time to do alterations, add my sash etc.

I have tried contacting Rosie in Disney floral to ask about the sand ceremony but after sending 2 emails, I still haven't heard back from her:confused: .

I am getting increasingly nervous and I can't figure out why, whether it's the fact that time is ticking on and I feel that there is something major I haven't done yet, who knows?
I have to pay the balance of our holiday by May 24th and I think it will be great just to get it out of the way.
I am still hoping to plan a few more surprises for my DF but I am now looking at one for my mom. If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to offer them up:goodvibes

What a beautiful ring! I love it! I do not have a ring yet and I have been looking at an emerald cut with tapered baguettes on the side but now that I see your ring I might change my mind.

I love that ring, it's going to be gorgeous on!

I also emailed Rosie at the beginning of last week and haven't heard anything back either. I wonder if everything is ok.

I have emailed Rosie twice in the past two weeks without response as well. Though I do recall a thread recently that stated there were a bunch of DIS brides getting married in April and May, not to mention others out there somewhere (though I just CAN"T understand why they wouldn't be on the dis !:rotfl2: )...so that being said, I imagine she has been swamped. So even though I want to finalize the last few things with her, I still have a couple weeks before sending in my finalized planning kit.

Give her a little breathing room, I am sure she will get back to all of us as soon as she can !

I honestly never thought my local bridal salon would have 'THE' dress. Plus the woman was so friendly and I felt like she really paid attention to what I said.

I felt EXACTLY the same - I went all the way to London to see a designer who charged £3,800 for the dress (that's about $7,600 in USD) and in the end I didn't actually like the dresses at all, and ended up getting mine from the local dress store, which my mum made me go to. I was so reluctant to go, but it was the BEST decision my mum ever made! :) That dress is gorgeous - I say buy it!

As someone who totally regrets NOT getting the dress of my dreams, (even after 24 years of marriage), I am glad you got the one that you know is THE dress! :bride: It is absolutely gorgeous and I am sure you will be beautiful in it on your wedding day!

Congratulations!

Hi just wondering how you are finding planning everything from home?
I suppose you have to have a lot of faith in your planner

DFTW is doing over 1500 intimate / escape weddings a year and Rosie is the only contact for all things floral & photography. She's a super busy lady! She's really great though and she won't let you down! If you are getting down to the wire I would let your WP know and they may be able to help you out!

disneygirl24 - I have found planning the wedding from home relatively easy. I prefer email over phone calls any day. I have some trouble letting go of the planning reigns though, I am a born planner:eek: I think everything so far has been pretty well organised. I actually knew pretty much what I wanted and I basically have everything I envisioned. The internet and sites like this are a godsend though as I have found out loads from past and future brides on here. I have booked many outside vendors based purely on recommendation and examples of their work, namely Randy Chapman:love: .

I must admit, I am ecstatic that I got my dream dress, I can't wait to try it on when my size comes in.

summer, I just wanted to tell you that I am TOTALLY impressed with your organizational and planning skills!! I mean, seriously, you should do this professionally ... I feel like a total slacker bride next to you!

anyway, your dress and ring are goregous and I personally can't wait for your trip report because I know it's going to be so details and you are going to look so lovely and you're getting married shortly before me and at the same location and time... so it will help me kinda know what I'm in for.

oh wait... when are you coming back from Disneyworld?! I just realized that maybe you won't be back in time to write a trip report before I leave for my wedding!! I'm leaving August 30th! haha. well, either way... I can't wait! :yay:

I LOVE all of your ideas so far, especially the new dress and ring! And I agree with everyone else....money isn't a factor when it comes to getting what you want and what will make you happy. After all, it is your wedding. I'm so happy that you found a dress you really love though!

Good luck in the next few months planning!!

OH MY GOD!!! I received my engagement ring today and it is even more beautiful than I imagined, I just had to tell you all!!! I promise I will post pics tonight. It is actually a centre emerald stone and 2 radiant side stones, I changed my mind on having 3 emerald stones as I was always stuck between radiant and emerald, so this way I can have the best of both. It sparkles so much I can't stop looking at it:love: The cathedral setting is just beautiful, I'm so glad I went for it. I am honestly in love, I can't wait to show my DF, he was really wary about ordering a ring that I haven't tried on. I bet he'll be amazed:cheer2: My mom, will have to wait until Thur to see it, she will be speechless.

I'm so excited:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I can't wait to see the pics of the actual ring! I bet it is gorgeous!!! :bride: Glad it is more than you expected!!!

Okay so I have tried to get some pics of my ring on my mobile phone, admittedly they are a bit blurry, so I will try and get some proper pics with my digital camera this weekend (need to charge it). However I have decided to post these anyway as it gives you an idea of it.

This is me mucking about in the mirror, it seemed to be the only way to get a half decent pic:confused3

This is what the side view looks like, I love, love, love the cathedral setting:love:

Untitled-4-3.jpg

This is about as close up as I could get, it got really blurry if I got any closer.

I will post better pics this weekend. I am so happy with it though and my DF thinks it's gorgeous on, I keep staring at it:cloud9:
Now to buy the wedding rings:idea:
