So where are you thinking of going this summer?? Are we all doing disney or could there be other vacation spots on the horizon for some?

We will have to stay local, my Dad is pretty sick, so WDW will need to wait for a bit. I think we may go to Lake George or maybe Hersheypark.

What about you?

Our big trip for the summer is a week in the Outer Banks with my family, my parents and siblings, their spouses and their kids. We're renting a 5 bedroom house. :)

We've talked about Washington DC

The kids (ages 20, 16, 13. 11) seem good ages for it, now that we're not pushing strollers anymore!

No definite plans yet, but I've found a lot of information here on the boards already.

Bob--The Outer Banks are beautiful! Enjoy the sea breezes, the Wright Brothers history, the seafood, the views... :sunny:

We were going to do a trip to D.C., too, but now have decided to return to Disney. Go figure. :goodvibes Now I need to decide on ADR's, whether to include **gasp** Universal this trip... We also hope to camp at Indiana Dunes State Park.

I think we will stick close to home since I will be in my third trimester throughout the summer. We will probably go to DC, Philly, Baltimore...maybe a day in New York and a few in Boston.

We are going to Universal Studios after the baby is born in either October or November.

Heading home to New Mexico for a wedding. Unfortunately the wife will have to join me after the wedding, she has a wedding she's playing at, she's a harpist. After the wife gets there, we're going to head to Santa Fe for a couple of days and then to Roswell to see my folks and the new nieces.

It's the Outer Banks for us too. We went last summer for the first time and we loved it so much, we're going back. We are in the process of narrowing down which house we want to rent. With all this snow we have, summer just can't come fast enough!

A bunch of day trips or long weekends in order to save money for Dis next year.

Long weekend in VA beach, tagging along on one of DH's business trips
Long weekend in DC, staying with sister (who just moved FROM Florida, dangit!)
Long weekend camping at BIL's cabin

**Are we freeloaders or what??**

Along with multiple trips to NYC, tent camping, Knoebels

Now I can't wait for summer!

So far, the only thing on our calendar is Storyland in NH for a long weekend in August. Maybe a weekend at Hershey park as well.

How soon do you all book your hotels for summer getaways?

We're Disney Cruisin' for our 10th wedding anniversary :teeth: June 17 on the Magic. DD's first cruise, so it should be fun...

We are sharing a beach house for 2 weeks with our best friends!! Can't wait!

We have several smaller trips planned.

Memorial Day weekend we're thinking of heading to South Dakota and going camping with friends just outside the capital where we used to live. That way we can visit with everyone when we're there.

July I'll probably go on the Girls' Weekend trip. Third year in a row. We head to Deadwood and stay in a suite. Usually 5 or 6 of us. We gamble, dance, drink, talk, eat, sight see. Last year we even went mountain biking!!

Late July or early August we're supposed to go to Branson with my brother and the whole gang. Last year it was the same weekend as girls weekend, so I didn't get to go, but DH did. There were 18 people total. We'll have to see tho because DB had surgery on his shoulder and has been off work for several months. Not sure if he'll be able to afford to go.

Then in August or September (why is it all happening at the same time??) an old friend is getting married in Las Vegas. Wish she would hold out until October, it's nice there that time of year. August is SOOOO HOT!!! So, we're going to try to go there.

Nothing has been set in stone yet tho.

This summer I am going on a western caribbean cruise. It is going to be DBF's family. This includes his mom's brother and his family, and her sister and her family. And possibly the other brother and his family. It should be a lot of fun but it is a lot of people!

My mom wants us to go out to California to visit family out there. Her uncle is old and not well, so she's said that this is the year to go out there. She's said that the last several years, but she's actually told my stepdad this year, so I think it will probably happen.
Other than that, probably a couple short trips up north to visit the grandparents, but no vacations on the scale of Disney or anything like that. I'll be working all summer

Just finalized my plans for August this morning. We are going to the Canoe Island Lodge at Lake George for a week. I can't wait! Let's just hope the weather cooperates.

We're taking the kids to Chincoteague for a week in August. We bought a boat two years ago and this is our first time taking that to Chincoteague (where we love boating). I love  the Outer Banks but maybe next year-that's a long way for us to trailer our boat.
My hubby and I are going to Shenandoah Valley in June -probably camping-for a long weekend getaway without kids. We're hoping to hike, see Luray Caverns and Monticello. I can't wait!
We might go visit my brother and his family for a long weekend in PAX River, Md. He's coming to PA in July so we'll take some days and see PA sights with his family.
If I have any days left, maybe we'll take a quick Christmas Disney trip at the beginning of Dec?? That would be wonderful but don't know if it will work out.

I cancelled my Disney vacation last night & it didn't even phase me. I guess that's when you know you need a Disney break. Instead I booked a week at Williamsburg with passes to Colonial Williamsburg & 5 day hoppers to Busch Gardens & Water Country. We are just going to lay around & relax. :)

It's funny almost everything on this thread we have done (except Lake George) Outerbanks fun, DC - a lot of walking. Williamsburg - have to do the lazy river at Watercountry USA, Shenandoah - love it esp the waterfall trails. Hersheypark - very nice and clean. Loved every one of them - enjoy guys.

This year we are going somewhere we've never been - Mexico. It's an Iberostar All-inclusive - can't wait.

Hopefully our we will be in Disney the last week of august. Our house is on the market now, so who knows what will be going on for the next 6 months or so - just hope it doesn't mess up the disney plans!!!

We're taking the kids on a 10 night cruise on the Norwegian Dawn out of NYC in late April. :cheer2:

And then in late July, we're taking the kids back west to visit my family in Eastern Washington for 8 days. We'll be there the same time as the Columbia Cup Hydroplane Races, so plan to take the kids to that one day as a birthday gift for DS, who'll be turning 5 the next weekend. We'll also go to the Art Sale held in the park the same weekend and have a birthday party for DS with all of my family.
