Hi, My family and I have been to WDW over seven times but I have never been there in the summer. I guess from now on we will have to make our ressies for during the summer since school is getting more and more demanding for my children. With that being said, can anyone give me a few pointers on the best/worst time to go in the summer. We are planning on going down for two weeks in 2002, probably one week at OKW and one week at Vero.

Any suggestions would be appreciated and also does anyone know the time period of the turtle's laying their eggs? At Vero Beach would you get an Inn room or a villa room?

Thanks much,
Lisa:) :)

As far as WDW goes, if you must go in summer, then best time as far as crowds go is first half of June or last half of August as crowds are somewhat lighter then. However, those weeks may have shorter park hours than the others and often a one or two night a week schedule rather than every night for fireworks and the nightly parade at MK. Worst time for crowds is the week July 4 is in. The rest of the summer weeks are about equally crowded. All are very hot and humid and you tend to get a couple of late afternoon or evening thunderstorms that may last 30 minutes to an hour a piece.

The Turtle Watch begins in June, I don't know when it ends. I don't know how big your family is - we went in late May (myself, DH, DS and his buddy, both teenagers). We had a 1 bdrm villa and loved it. I think we really spent more time in the room at Vero than when at the parks. Sitting on the balcony watching the ocean was heavenly. You might take that into consideration.
