summer rates

I was wondering why the deluxe rates in the summer (July 19-Oct 1) are considered value? Have those dates always been value? Why would those dates be value for deluxes but moderates aren't value season until Aug 9th?

I guess I best start paying attention to that. I have never noticed that before..now, I am wondering why also..

Actually, up until last year, value season started for the deluxes right after 4th of July. Don't know why the dates are different for the moderates, but we were disappointed when they pushed value season later in July last year for the deluxes.

My theory is that deluxe resorts get less reservations in the summer than value and moderate resorts because it is a kid heavy time of year, and people with kids are more likely to go to values and mods. That is one of the best times (maybe THE best time) for a family to go to a deluxe because most of the value season dates are during school.

I have a feeling we're going to see more discounts come out for summer. The Poll over on the Theme Park and Strategies board is very interesting on which months people are booking. July has the least amount of bookings. Yes, this is just this board, however, it does say something.
