Summer/hot weather visitors....To Makeup or not to Makeup??

I ALWAYS do, I do at home and I don't feel like me without it..Call me vain ..Trick is using good product, good application and making sure to blot during the day.I never look like a raccoon and this is in the 100+ degrees and humidity.I wear full face too.ANother Trick is waterproof stuff.I use Makeup Forever products. It was designed for aqua ballet/aqua dancers etc

We were there the last week of August and I wore full makeup. It was hot a hell, but I managed to keep most of it on!! I have to say, that the cooling neck wraps I purchaed off of Amazon were a life saver! It was still pretty damn hot, but they did help a lot.

I second the vote for Makeup Forever... that's what I use every day at home, and I wear the same in FL. For pool time or the water parks I just do sunscreen and waterproof mascara. I feel naked without ANY makeup! If I have a great tan I will sometimes skip everything but mascara... but not often! My makeup may be "faded" by the end of the day, but I've never had it running down my face or anything.

I wear a tinted foundation, lip gloss with an spf, and waterproof mascara. That is it. Anything else is gone so quickly, there is no point in putting it on.

I have recently found a carmex lip gloss that has spf and a bit of color that I really like. It isn't too greasy or sticky, and gives my lips a nice hint of color. It also has an spf, which I need, as my lips will burn without it.

I can't go without makep :). I use waterproof eyeliner (urban decay 24/7) and waterproof mascara (urban decay). Then my usual foundation routine (YSL or Cover FX). When I'm at Disney in the heat I use Ben Nye setting powder. A friend of mine used to do theatre and told me about it...it's pretty amazing...keeps foundation from sweating off. On water park days when I don't want to do a lot of makeup I use St. Tropez bronzing mousse/self tanner which I think gives the most realistic/non orangey looking fake tan.

I've been using Bare Escentuals Advanced Protection SPF Tinted Moisturizer...

http://www.sephora.com/bmskincare-spf-20-tinted-moisturizer-P308918

And I'm loving it! It goes on a little dewy, so I lightly brush either Bare Minerals foundation over, or a little loose face powder, plus Bare Minerals Warmth all-over face color, little mascara, and I'm good to go! Doesn't sweat off, doesn't crease - love it. If I'm feeling the need for more eye makeup, I start with Too Faced shadow primer, then Bare Minerals eye shadow and Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes eyeliner - with the primer, it lasts all day. ;)

Someone said Jergens? okay I have used the self tanner stuff on my legs - is this the same for your face? If I start using it at the beginning of the trip, will I look overly dark by the end? I dont want my body to be white and my face to look like the tanning mom who was recently in the news. :scared1:

I love Jergens self-tanner. I've used Clarins, Neutrogena and Dior, and I keep on going back to Jergens for how natural it looks and how easy it is to apply. They have both body and face creams, and a quick tanning version as well (closer to what you'd expect from regular self-tanning creams - must be more careful with the application). Because the regular Jergens tanner is so gradual, I think you'd be hard-pressed to turn yourself orange or overly dark. :thumbsup2

I always wear makeup! When I go to Disney or any other park for that matter, I wear sweatproof makeup, if you google it, it will come up different products for different budgets. I avoid powders though, because they "close" your pores and make your face all sweaty...

On our trip last August--I FORGOT my makeup!!! So--I was basically forced to not wear any--none sold on Disney property (that I could find anyway). It was so totally hot and humid that my shoulders and shins were sweating! I've never felt heat like that.
So, this time-in August 2012-I will only wear sunscreen on my face, mascara on my lashes and my long lasting lipstick. If I put this lipstick on at night, I wake up with it still there in the morning! It doesn't come off for anything-even 105 degree temps.

So--IMO--Just go with the mascara and lipstick route---nobody is looking at your complextion. The pics look better for you with your eyes and lips done at least.:confused3
What lipstick are you talking about? I would love to try it.

i use tinted moisturizer with a GOOD waterproof mascara. i'll also usually wear tinted lip balm.
What mascara do you consider GOOD?

I pay a little extra and get the good stuff for Disney World. Usually I just wear tinted moisturizer and waterproof mascara, bought from Merle Norman.
You too...what mascara do you consider GOOD??

What mascara are you using?? :rolleyes1

I've tried Dior & every other waterproof mascara I could find. Please help!! popcorn::

No make-up, other than lipstick. I'm a sweaty mess by the time I take 20 steps out our resort door to the bus stop. I do make sure my face (and other skin) has a good covering of sunscreen before leaving our room.

I usually only put on a little foundation and concealer (mostly under eye area) with liner and mascara. I live in south Mississippi so the weather is what I'm used to, but not willing to waste early morning with full routine and don't want everyone always waiting on me!! The hardest thing for me is the ponytail I inevitably end up with because of the heat. I prefer my hair down.

Do you happen to know what brand of moisturizer?

I'm sure this has been answered but I didn't read the whole thread. I do the same thing. Tinted moisutrizer and a bit of waterproof mascara. I have tried several but IMHO, Laura Mercer is the best. I've also used it on trips to Jamaica and it looks really nice in our pics.

ETA: I have tried several of the mineral type foundations (Bare Minerals, Bare Eccentuals, etc) and I don't like any of them. To me they always just look like my face is caked with an inch of powder...plus they are a holy mess to apply. It's always all over my shirt and bathroom vanity. LOL! (and no, I'm not using too much, I know how to apply it properly)

Mineral makeup in the high temps is the best! I just can't go in public without my "face" on.

So for me:
Mineral foundation (Avon Pressed Mineral Powder, not messy at all)
Light blush
Waterproof mascara
Lip gloss/balm

The one thing I will never wear at WDW is eyeliner. I have not found a single one that doesn't run eventually.

Have your tried Makeup Forever Aqua liners? They don't budge, like I said before the line of makeup was designed initially for aqua ballet and aqua dancers.Only problem is I need a good makeup remover to get it off

Yeah, I'm always torn on that issue. I don't wear makeup most of the time (my skin and eyes are so sensitive that even the hypoallergenic stuff can irritate them if it's left on too long), but I don't photograph as well without makeup as I did when I was younger. All that said, the heat usually wins out and I hope that a big smile will compensate for any blotchy skin in the pictures!

My next trip will be in winter, though, so maybe I'll be able to make up a little more.

Never any at all????? I wish I could get away with doing that! I am not horribly old (43) but I have a few freckles I would like to cover and my face (and the rest of my body) is very fair so I like a bit of color. I cant do eyeliner though! Never learned how and when I try, it comes out looking like I went 10 rounds with Ali back in the day!:lmao:

I dont want my body to be white and my face to look like the tanning mom who was recently in the news. :scared1: I dont want to spend a whole bunch of time, I get that, but I do feel (and look) better when I have a bit of SOMETHING on. I mean my hair will be in a ponytail and I will be wearing very casual shorts and tennis shoes - I dont want to go with nothing at all on my face and scare the small children at the parks!;)

Sounds like I need to make a trip to the drugstore soon!

Nope. I'm such a spaz with makeup anyway (no skills when it comes to applying it) so I would look worse wearing any. It's quite freeing not having to go through the whole process of makeup application. I have two sisters (and a mother) who won't step foot out the door without full-face, and they drove me batty on our last trip to WDW together since we always had to wait for them to get ready.

DH is thrilled I don't wear makeup. He hates the way it smells and gets all on him, and he says (wisely might I add) that he prefers me without makeup. I have worn the whole shebang before (our wedding and a few other special occasions, and sure I look good when I do, but I just don't have the wherewithall to do it daily).

That said I DO sometimes wear black eyeliner. Sometimes.

Revlon Color Stay. I use it all summer. Actually, I wear it year round.

At the parks, I wear the foundation, it has SPF and doesn't move off my face. I burn like crazy, but I have never burned through that makeup, nor have I ever had to reapply. I also wear a little eyeliner. That's about it.

Hope you find something that works for you!

I have actually not tried that one, but I will give it a whirl this summer, thanks! :thumbsup2
