Summer heat! Thoughts about Misty Mates and Frogg Toggs??

We go every August (headed down in 8 days). We bring cooling towels, misting fans, go at RD, take a mid day break (between 1-3 head back to the resort), and then head back to the parks between 5-7 (depending on when we left). We make sure to stay hydrated. If we feel like we're getting to warm we will head to an indoor attraction. We take things slower and don't push to get everything done.

We go every September and we have the exact same plan.

I prefer using a small handheld fan rather than a misting fan. The fan goes faster on the small one and it is easier to pack and carry around.

Hasn't been mentioned yet but the clothes you wear make a HUGE differnece!!! Invest in some good heat gear/dry fit style clothing (I prefer Under Armour but many brands have good heat gear clothing). It makes a world of differnece in the Florida heat. Cotton is just miserable.

100% true...even better, lose fitting linen. People in India, etc...dress in lose, linen fabrics.

I ordered one Frogg togg for each of my family members for our upcoming trip in September from Amazon. Once they arrived, I opened 1 to wash it before use as per the instructions and it had black mold spores all over it! Right out of the package! I didn't open the rest and contacted Amazon for a return and refund. Very disappointed and I only ordered them After seeing So many people rave about them on the disboards and on so many Disney blogs.

I didn't like the cooling towel last week when we were there. With the humidity, the last thing I wanted was a damp towel hanging from my neck. . My DD8 loves the towel though. DH sticked with the mist fan. I just took breaks here and there inside of the building where the ac would freeze me.

We just received our frog togg hats and wristbands.

I found going to the rest room and wetting my hair then hanging around an air con building helped. I liked the Frog togs but they didn't last long and I got more relief from the ice from a machine in a bag I brought and put it on my neck! I didn't like the way the towel smelt by the end of the day. Also as PP said I found clothes made a difference I was impressed by Under Armour and a UV proof hat. Also somebody mentioned Gatorade yes! Water just would not hydrate me. I also enjoyed getting Gatorade from the store at the resort putting it in the freezer over night and then when it thawed it was lovely.

We ALWAYS bring Misty Mates. For me, they're a vital part of trip planning.

We tried the Frogg Toggs for our 2014 trip. Personally, they didn't do much for me. But my Brother in law from LA LIVED in his.

On average August is a smidge hotter than June. Also, are you planning on going the beginning of June or the end of August?

On average, that is true, but.... June can be stifingly hot and not as much of a breeze typically as August when a 5 minute storm can whip up at any time to cool things down a bit. Fewer crowds in late August helps to make the heat more bearable as well. You can look at weather.com for historical weather data to check out the differences, but to me the main difference is the wind which just seems to blow more in late August than anytime in June.

I think Frogg Toggs make a huge difference. I feel noticeably cooler. Definitely wash them before using though. They have a funny smell when first opened.

We just returned- used a small misty mate for one day but as it just made us more wet, we stopped using it. LOVED the Frogg Togg wristbands- highly recommend! We used the hats for a few days, too. But they are stiff as a board when dry and don't bend at all when packing.

Frogg Toggs don't work that well when it's super humid. They just get warm but they don't evaporate. And I will tell you from experience, if you're going to use them at Walt Disney World, don't be an idiot like me and wear a collared shirt. If that cooling towel isn't touching your neck directly, it isn't going to do much for you.
