Here's the situation. I have friends traveling to Florida this coming summer. The kids (older teens) really want to go to WDW, but the parents don't (makes them smarter than the kids, but I digress). So, mom asked me what she and her dh could do if they dropped the kids at the parks and then went off on their own. I really had no idea. Anyone here have any thoughts or advice??? Not sure what they want to do other than be out of the heat/humidity.

Do they like to shop? There are the outlets. Would they enjoy something like the Titanic exhibit?

What do they like to do?

wish I knew what they are looking for....she said 'Oh, I don't know..we just don't want to be walking around the parks.' I think they should stop at one of the tourist info spots and check it out. I'll remind her about the outlets..had forgotten those. Thanks.

Depends on how comfortable they are leaving the kids truly alone, but I would recommend a trip to Blue Springs State Park for a dip in the springs and a great boat tour of the wildlife along the St Johns River.

DW and I also like to take a day and go to the beach, we usually head to Sarasota, but either coast is about the same distance. Both options have them about an hour out of town however.

They can go pick some fruit for a quick outing. Fishing and golfing are good local options too if they like it.

YEAP, I totally agree with the outlet shopping thing. We like the Premium Outlet Mall which is right around the corner from the Disney main gate (DTD).

The Millenia or Florida Mall is great if you don't want to have to go in and out of the heat. The indoor malls are a great retreat from the rain as well.:goodvibes
