Summer Exchanges - NOT!!!!!

I signed up to do the Summer Exchanges from this board. I sent my pkg out to my recipient and have yet to receive my pkg! All pkgs were to be sent out by May 11th! I'm really upset that people would sign up for something and then not exchange, but receive pkgs themselves! Are people really that selfish and rude! I thought this board was to exchange budget ideas, coupons, codes, etc. and not just to receive things from others for free!
I have certainly learned my lesson....no more exchanging!

It was on this board where you signed up to exchange a summer pkg with someone else. The pkgs were to be sent out by May 11th. You got someones name, hobbies, colors, etc and you sent a pkg with all kinds of goodies of what that person likes or things for their upcoming vacation. Spending amount of $25. Some of us who did sign up, have yet to receive pkgs. It just a shame that the people who did send out their pkgs, get nothing in return.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this but so be it. If you are going to sign up for an exchange - PLAY FAIR. Follow the rules, themes and minimum amount. Do not put a couple of freebies into a box and claim it's worth 25.00. Someone is going to get that box and be really disappointed. On the other hand, to the person who received the box I put together - I would have really appreciated knowing whether you received it or not. Maybe you just don't post much because I noticed you never posted about sending out a package either. Too bad a few people can put a such a damper on a fun thing.

I am so sorry to hear this! It is sad and disappointing. I wasn't in this exchange, but I participate in many over on the community board, and I quite frankly have never seen one go so bad! Where is the organizer? Have these non senders been active online here at the DIS lately? Have they responded to e-mails if sent? How many people did not received a package?

Please don't give up on exchanges. They are a fun way to "meet" our fellow Disneyholics. Come on over and join one on the community board. Right now the kitchen towel exchange, the book exchange and a few others are up. At least go over to the CB and read through some of the sent/received threads and see for yourselves how an exchange should go.

I too participate in many exchanges over on the CB and they run very smoothly.

Can you PM the person who hosted this exchange and have her find out about your package? I would suggest doing that.

She appears to be pretty unhappy about the whole thing. You can't really blame her for people not doing the right thing, or answering her e-mails etc. I know she has been trying to find out whats going on.

I wasn't saying one should blame her, I was just saying that since she hosted it she should be able to contact the people involved.

I was lucky enough to have the person who received my package announce it on the thread and I did receive mine. I've been on the end where I didn't even know if the person had received my package and it's not a good feeling. I'm sorry to hear that their are some who didn't receive their packages. That is a shame.

it's more than a shame it's rotten. If something comes up and you can't do it, at least email the person and apologize. Geez........how much easier can it get than apologizing over email?

In no way should the host of the exchange be blamed. She just handled emailing everyones pal information out to them! She is trying to figure out what has happened with the ones who didn't get pkgs, but those people are probably not answering their emails! What goes around, will come around!

I too had this happen to me on the cb with the first tshirt exchange it stinks thats why I don't do any exchanges anymore. I am sorry that it happened to you its not a good feeling!

I have never participated in an exchange and this is why. I have too many dishonest things happen to me with online/internet friendships, I am just not too trusting anymore. It is a shame that it has to be that way.

I agree, we cannot and should not blame the hostess. It is too bad that people did not follow the rules. I have done exchanges before (never on the DIS) and for the most part have had good luck.

I am also one of those still awaiting my package. My exchangee did e-mail me telling me there was a problem with the package being delivered and it was sent back to her!

I am going to look over at the Community Board at some exchanges - think positive!

I am another one who sent a package and received none. I am surprised that so many of us did not receive a package -- could there really be that many unreliable people reading this particular thread?

Sorry someone is shorting you...I participated in one of the first coupon trains when the person I mailed the coupons to never sent them on...it ruins it for everyone, and frees me up never to participate in a train or exchange again...live and learn.

Hi everyone! I just returned from WDW last night at 3:00 am. I have been "out of the office" traveling since June 3rd so I apologize to anyone who has PM'd over the last couple of weeks.

First, let me apologize to those who have not received their packages and to those who were dissapointed in what they received from their pal. I, too, have personally participated in many exchanges on other boards in our DIS community, which is why I thought it would be fun to do here. And, while it is not common, unfortunately, there are those individuals who simply cannot play fair for whatever reason. It stinks and it is 100% wrong, period.

To those who have not received your package, please know that I HAVE contacted your exchangee by email and PM several times with no response. I hope you do understand that I am just as frustrated as you are.

I really am upset that this may discouraging people from participating in other exchanges either here on the DIS or with other communities. There are good people here.... and most do play fairly.....

Dagny -- have the non senders been active on the DIS since you last heard from them? did you arrange for anyone in your exchange group to be an "elf" in case of a situation just as this?

I had participated in this exchange and was lucky to have someone tell me that they did recieve the box that I had sent, and that I in return recieved a box. I have participated in many exchanges of the different boards and have hosted a bunch. I have been keeping up with the recieved/sent thread and was also wondering if there were elfs that would be stepping in. On a side note, not all exchanges turn out sour.

I am keeping a watchful eye for other exchanges on other boards. I already HAVE and will continue to pass along the names along of those who have not played nicely here to other exchange hosts. Additionally, I have PM'd Meriweather who apparently keeps a master list of people who are no longer permitted to play with others in the sandbox.....
