Summer discounts are out!!

Well attendance is down, Xmas this year wasn't even as crazy as it was projected to be (the week after and marathon week got all the crowds instead) and I booked a Ft. Wilderness cabin for 4th of July for $200/night. I think crowds are down. Attendance numbers verify this. Hotel occupancy is up, but park numbers are down. What does that mean? it means people are staying on property, but looking to spend their park dollar elsewhere.

That is not because of Disney hotels...

There are 25 on property and 400-500 in Orlando off...

Crowds are a problem because they simply didn't continue to develop after the 90's to handle a 50 million crowd. They can fit it...but they actually have reduced attractions and guest service areas since 2000.

Exactly. You have 50 million people with 6 good attractions and reservation only restaurants. Where do you want people to go? I honestly think once Pandora opens there will be a better perspective of "crowds"

Valid, but a major hotel price cut will still increase crowds further. Plus there will be a new complaint of no vacancy and having to plan a year out for a room.

I think they have a good system in place.

Discount when needed (All stars are $100 in Sept today), DVC expansion to fill in.

But why do I want to pay $400 for a $200 room just so there's vacancy?

...and I'm pretty sure i just found AKL for 4/5 -4/9 for 196/night. POFQ rack rate is $269 for the dates the "bidder" got. With an aP discount it's 215.

That's crazy. $114 for POR? Especially when they are getting mid $200 now. Why would they even entertain this?

Currently they have a 4.5 star resort in the Disney Springs area for $128/night. There's no resort fee, so it could belong to Disney. Can't figure out what's 4.5 stars in the Disney Springs area tho.

has to be the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress

No...it would slightly increase crowds, but maintain full occupancy and drive additional guest spending in higher profit lines of business.

My WL booking was right around 250 a night with a UOC. I'm not saving money from my previous POR Preferred booking, but for like $15-$20 more I'm getting a way better location.

Perhaps one of the Hilton's?

AKL isn't even 4.5 stars, not sure what it could be.

Those sites are wholesale...they buy the rooms and then resell themfor whatever they think they can get...Even jf they have to write some off occasionally
