Ok, I am a parent who gets SUPER excited about summer break. I don't work durring the summer, so I'm able to hang out and be a kid with my kids.:thumbsup2 We spend weeks at my parents lake cabin, we have summer theater classes (which my 6yo LOVES!!!! She's a TOTAL drama queen and actress!), we do swimming lessons and when we're home and it's nice out, most of our days are spent at the waterpark, soaking up the sun!!! We also LOOOOVVVEEE to go camping and have a few favorite spots close to us that we go every other weekend or so!

Who else is doing the countdown? We have 9 days left!!!! 9!!! To me that seems like we're getting out WAY early! How many days left for the rest of you? I'm talking about the people with a full summer break (not really the year around schooling schedules...since they work differently).

We know that it's not really 'warm' enough to fully enjoy summer in the Middle of May here, but we've booked a vacation down south for 10 days...by the time we get back home, it'll be nice here!

I love the lack of structure we have in the summer! School doesn't get out here until mid June though.:sad1:

My kids don't get out until June 18! I love the summer break too though, we do the same things as OP...camping, waterparks, soaking up the sunshine while we can. I love it. My boys play baseball during the summer, plus we go to our minor league team games...woohoo.....soooo ready!:beach:

6 days for me and it can't come soon enough! :cool1:

All I really have left is a final exam Monday, Wednesday, and one that needs to be done early next week for my online class.

Our last day is June 9th, I think that's about 20 more school days. I can't wait to not have to get up by 6:30, not pack lunches, not have to try and get a teenager out of bed who wants to sleep.
We don't have a lot of plans yet. My youngest goes to some half day camps in art and gymnastics and will also take swimming lessons. We'll go to the pool and Lake Erie. I'd like to go to some water parks too. I try to get them to the library every few weeks, too. I want to do some weekend trips, but not sure where other than we'll go to Pittsbugh to see my sister.

Mine get out in the beginning of June and I can't wait. I look forward to spending more time with my family in the summer all year. I love Summer! :sunny:

Unfortunately no change for me. I'm a single mom and still have to work. DD9 gets out June 15th and we do have some fun things planned.

We're going to King's Dominion on June 18th - I've never been and LOVE roller coasters!

She will be attending a YMCA day camp most of the summer at an old YMCA camp right down the street (and on the water).

She is going with her grandparents to their house in NC for 10 days.

We're going on our annual OBX trip with my boyfriend's family!:banana: Can't wait!

She is going to a week of Girl Scout sleep away camp with a good friend.

She's got a heck of summer lined up! I'm jealous! However, we still have to get up at 6am and make lunch and do all of that stuff - BUT when we come home we don't have to do homework! We can go for bike rides and play games and hang out together. Love summer!

23 more school days!

And I'm not excited because I have kids, I'm excited because I work at a school! The only thing I'm sure that I'm doing is a Yoga class on Mondays. I have many projects around the house. My best friend is working for the census and taking a trip to Italy, so she'll be no fun! But the sister closest to my age has promised to take some days off just to hang out with me (we still have to go through all my Mom's stuff and convert her room to a den.)

DH & I have a lot of weekend Oakland A's games to go to, but we're hoping to go to Tahoe for a couple of weekends, and to Sacramento to see a minor leagues ballgame (Rivercats!)

Then, our big trip isn't until October, when we go with our younger DS & DDIL to WDW!

(hmmm....I wonder if I can talk DH into a quick trip to Disneyland?)

our kids get out June 10th and I can't wait! They have some sports stuff going on throughout the summer but we are mostly unstructured and leaving days open for day trips. DH is counting down to our OBX week with friends - we love those weeks  DH and I still have work, but I have a bunch of vacation days open and will be using them to chill with the kids :cheer2:

This has been our first year to have a child in school (Daughter's in Kindergarten), and I was thinking the other day that I am more excited about Summer Vacation now than when I was a kid.

Seniors get out on June 4th, Graduation is June 5th, the rest of the school has classes/finals that next week and get out on the 11th. DS17 has one month left of high school.

I am sooooo ready for summer! I teach and we officially have 20 school days left! :cool1: This is our first summer as parents and I really want to do something fun with baby Emma! Maybe like a mommy & me swimming or yoga class? Plus it'll be nice not waking up at 4:30am to workout and have everything ready for the day! :upsidedow

We just signed up for a 'family yoga' class. It's only a $50 fee for the three of us all summer, so that's nice- if we miss it a week here and there, it's still worth it. Our church is doing it- in a huge outdoor park that we have...on rainy or crummy days, we'll be in the church. I'm kind of excited about the girls and I going to it. I was into it last year, but kind of got out of it due to lack of time.

Wow, some of you have really early starts to summer. Our last day is June 23rd. And we have state testing next week, so of course it's dragging.

I'm spending the whole summer at my new house in New Hampshire. I can't wait to start painting and decorating :thumbsup2

I love summer as well:woohoo:
My kids dont get out until June 18th..but summer represents such freedom to me. I know some of my friends complain that summer vacation will be upon us soon ,with having the kids home all day. No my kids are not perfect, they fight, yell, scream etc...but I love the fact summer represents freedom to me, no having to get the kids up early, no lunch packing or having to find money to give the kids for lunch, no homework, no worrying they are in bed at a decent time etc...
Now, we dont have big things planned for the summer. My daughter is going to one week girlscout daycamp. My son is going to be a counselor in training at the boyscout camp, so he will be gone for several weeks. Most of our days will be spent at the outdoor pool at the JCC working on my tan while the kids play in the water...I LOVE SUMMER!!!
Oh, and the last week of August we are going on a cruise. I love having vacation right before the kids go back to school..

As soon as I found out the "official" last day of school a ticker went up! June 4th can NOT get here soon enough!:woohoo::dance3:

Our last day is May 27th,:cool1: which is late for us because we had so much snow. I work at school so I love summer as much as my kids do!:lovestruc
We are going to the beach on June 4th! Summer is full of a lot of activities, but they are fun ones. Like so many other people have said, I love the freedom of summer! We are going to open our pool this weekend!:woohoo:

Wow, never knew parents were excited for summer vacation....

my kids get out on June 21. I usually babysit my friends kids all year before and after school along with her 2 year old, but she just lost her job so no babysitting for me this summer. It stinks job wise to lose that but I am thrilled with the timing...trying to think positive about this and I am so excited to not have extra kids to keep entertained! Going to the beach without a 2 year old is going to be heaven!!!! I will still work my other jobs but they are only 3 nights a week between them so my days will be now be free to be a beach bum

DD10 is signed up for 2 summer camps that run a few hours each day, we have a week at DH's uncle's beach house in July and a 10 day trip to CA and Disneyland in August. I can't wait for summer this year! :woohoo:
