Our youngest is leaving Monday for a week at summer camp. She's almost 11 but this is her first time away for anything more than a sleep-over at a friends. Both of her older brothers started going to camp when they were around 8 but for some reason this time it's really bothering me. I don't know if it's because she's my "baby" or because she's a girl or just what. She'll have a great time, I know, but in the mean time I will probably worry myself silly. Anyone else coping with this, and if so, what do you do to make yourself feel better?

My oldest DD is only 6 and she is at a birthday party right now and I am sick with worry! I bet she will have fun.

my dd who is 8 is leaving for church camp in 2 weeks. My dh and I really put some thought into which week to send her so I know where you are coming from. We are sending her with a group of younger kids so that she will know people and one of the fathers is the minister on duty that week. It will be hard to send her off, but when she comes home it will be worth it!

Our 4th. child, DS-8, will have his first experience at summer camp in July. The older 3 go for 2 weeks and 1st year campers go for one. It is a Lutheran Camp and my kids love it, although DS-15 says this will be his last year. I will only have 1 cherub home the 3rd week of July, how odd will that be? I am not sure my house will be able to handle it! No emergency trips to the market, food staying in the fridge for longer than a half an hour, only vacuumning-hmm dare I say it once during the week? Ahhh but they grow so fast and they love it! She will have a great time.
