Summer Bay resort

Stayed there for our honeymoon 3 years ago. It has a onsite shuttle to a nearby grocery store which was nice. There onsite gift shop was nice but expensive. They have a mini golf on property and watercraft. We played the mini golf which was fun. They also have watercraft you can rent and take out on the lake. The rooms were nice but a little disappointing compared to other placed we've stayed. The pool was nothing exciting either. The staff were friendly. They have shuttles to take you to the parks.Thats about all I can remember about the resort itself. Hope you enjoy your vacation. We will be staying at POR Dec 11-14!

I'm also curious. I just got a call from a Summer Bay sales person about a deal on a visit/time share presentation. I've seen scathing reviews on line, so I don't think we will take them up on the "invitation."

Just to let you know We were contacted to do a tour of summer bay..Its a beautiful resort..Stayed for 4 nites ..then went to orange lake for 4 nites..Both places nice..Had to do 2 tours..of course said no to both..got my $100 gift card from both..helped pay for some meals..If you are looking to buying a timeshare..Thats a good home resort to have..Its been 4 years..But I do know It had activities for the kids..Nice pool areas..and close to a grocery store. I would say go for it..but keep in mind we were at both tours for almost 3 hrs apiece..They always say 90 minutes..but its usually unless YOu want to buy right away..Just a hint...Hold out for the best deal..IF you are interested in buying..They always offer the best for last..Have a great vacation no matter what you decide. CANT WAIT TILL DEC 20-30..WE WILL BE AT WDW..OFF SITE..FOR XMAS..ALL READY TO GO NOW!!

Summer Bay has a horrible reputation for saying one thing and giving you paper that says something else to sign.

I was contacted by them many years ago to buy a 'preview package' - and was told over the phone that I had 24 hours to cancel the package if I changed my mind, I called back less than 4 hours later to cancel after doing some research on the internet and was then told that I could NOT cancel the package despite being told otherwise by the original sales representative.

So I ended up contacting my state's Attorney General to file a complaint, and was promptly refunded the entire cost of my package - despite being told on the 2nd phone call that it was non-refundable.

Definitely NOT a reputable business IMHO.

The reviews I read indicate that the vast majority of the rooms have ventilation problems. SO many developers do not realize the major humidity difference that is found in most of Florida. When it is humid outdoors, and air conditioned indoors, along with poorly ventilated bathrooms - the potential exists for a lack of humidity differential from outdoors to indoors.
The result is mold, mildew - and the damp musty smells that result.

Developers build building in Florida that will literally rot themselves from the inside out - for the most part Disney does a good job on building for the climate, however where I have found that Disney makes their biggest moisture mistakes is cleaning of carpets and not ventilating the room properly afterward to assure the rooms do not develop a musty/moldy odor.

Anyway - back to Summer Bay - I would steer clear!

We stayed in a Summer Bay 2 bedroom villa in July 2008. We were a guest of my mom who owns there. The units were spacious and clean. The resort was beautiful and the pool areas were nice. Since that first visit, we have frequently stayed at the Holiday Inn West of Theme Park Summer Bay. By staying there you get full access to the resort's ammenities and a great breaksfast included. The newer pool area in the back is nice for a poolside lunch and a cold beverage. We have never had a negative experience at either the resort villa or our numerous visits to the Holiday Inn on their property. Hope this helps.

The Villas seem to get the most negative reviews, but I've never stayed in them. I've been in the main resort and the pool houses. I'd gladly go back to either, but I LOVE the houses.

I have taken their tour and found it relatively low key if you have time to kill.

We also stayed a Summer Bay a few years ago and would rank it #2 of the 4 we have stayed at in Orlando. We had no issues with the room, the activities at the resort are nice-we actually liked the pool scene here the best. Drawbacks include a gift area which is a complete ripoff, and a rather remote location near 192/US 27.

We did the timeshare tour and found it very low key, right at 90 minutes, and the $100 gift was nice.

We have stayed here multiple times and have always had an awesome room. Never stayed in the villas though. But the others have been very beautiful and HUGE! Never had any problems at all and we weren't too far from the SuperWalmart!

I am too but we bought in to a timeshare and make good use of it, most of the time. HA! Wish we hadn't bought in Orlando though because we belong to RCI and being so close to Disney, we aren't allowed to take advantage of Disney Timeshares because of our proximity!
