Best way to find out what Disney's COVID plans look like for the Summer? Just starting to plan after four years of not traveling to Disney, so I am overwhelmed by the info and in some cases, the lack of info.

Are some resorts still planning on being closed (Wilderness Lodge and Beach Club are either closed or full already in July & August)?

Are club levels closed that far away from now?

Is it best just to call them and ask all my neurotic questions? I don't want to pay what looks to be full price for reduced services, and thought by next Summer we could be in the clear. I am a hotel owner myself and we are hoping for things to be as close to normal as possible after Spring/Easter break (we are not in America, though).

Thanks in advance! So out of touch, so excuse my ignorance!

Wilderness Lodge and Beach Club do not have reopening dates set, so nothing is bookable at those resorts for any dates (although their respective DVC/villa sides are open).

Club Level is “temporarily unavailable” per Disney, with no announced plans on when that will change. CL rooms are not bookable at any resort for any dates at the moment.

I would say it’s better to ask questions around places like the DIS than call Disney - with all due respect to phone CMs, you’ll tend to get better info here on most topics.

Disney has a variety of “info” pages on their website about the current state of operations. This one on Resorts is lengthy, but very helpful: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/experience-updates/resorts/

The current general public room discount offer goes through 4/17/2021. General public discounts covering the summer aren’t out yet (some are speculating they’ll come out in January, but always hard to say).

Thanks so much. Have to get my Disney strategic planning going! This is helpful.

I can only tell you what DW, DS, DDIL, and I did. Just OUR choice....

We have booked BRV, two individual DVC 1BRs, NOV9 2021. Our reasoning: We will all be inoculated by this time. We cancelled all APR 2021 reservations, based on vaccine delivery projections.

Now, there is a 2nd element to all of this. Should we be vaccinated - but WDW still has no staff, no restaurants, no parties, no fireworks? Totally willing to cancel NOV 2021. HOLDING OFF on airline reservations (tough to get these refunded) until we know what we are flying in TO. We really want a vacation - but unwilling to pay top dollar for a survival exercise :(.

I don’t mean to question you as you always provide such kind and helpful responses to people!!

But...I currently have a Beach Club reservation for July 2021. I made the reservation in the summer after we had to cancel our May trip. We haven’t decided whether or not we’re going to go (long story), but I’m hanging onto it for the time being.

Did you make your reservation through Disney? If so, was it during the period where BC did have reopening plans announced? For awhile there both BC and BWI had reopening dates (and I’m pretty sure you could book them at the time), but Disney later backtracked on reopening those two resorts and all future dates became unavailable to book.

Not in the States.

The majority of the American public are being told we won't have the vaccine available to us until June-July. And these are "emergency-use" approvals, it is not approved for minors under age 126 16 in the U.S. So there is still a chance the American school kids will not have been vaccianted even when next school year starts. I would not bet on things being back to normal at WDW next Summer. While Disney can alwasy reverse course, thinks like Club Level and Dining Plans are officially gone until September 26, and the Park Pass system will continue to co-op FP+ through 2021.

I'm traveling in August (if inoculated) with expectations that WDW will pretty much be operating like it currently is.

As for resorts opening, it all depends on demand. Right now they can't sell enough of the room inventory they have open. We really won't know until Disney announces more.

Beach Club was original supposed to re-open last August 24. But, by the end of July, that was postponed indefinitely. BC guests are being moved to other resorts ~ 4 weeks before their travel.

I made the reservation through a TA. Maybe that’s the difference?

@Lsyves Next summer's plans we'll probably know in April/May (ish) or June. Or July. Or August. Part of me is kidding, but part of me isn't.
Personally I'd put off a trip until later 2021 or sometime in 2022 (I'm hoping for Dec 2021 right now).

Thanks everyone. We are planning on October now and hoping for the best.

Best bit of advice?

PLAN on protocols being as they are now. Even if the government relaxes things, Disney is a private company and can set their own rules.

IF they relax some of them by then, consider it icing. But if you are not comfortable with the requirements as they are, I would either not book or I would have a back-up plan in case they don’t relax them.
