Summer 2018 prices!!!

We booked the EBTA for 2017 and 2018 on opening day and only see a 7% increase. We booked 9C room on both cruises in 2017 our cost is $4826.31 or $312.75/night and in 2018 $4503.62 or $346.43/night. That is a difference of $24.70 or 7%, it isn't a small amount but definitely not 30% maybe different categories have increased by a lot more but not 9C's :)

Your have made an error in your math. The difference between $346.43 and $312.75 is $33.68.

I had booked this year WBTA for 4,600 2A 2K cat 5c. We changed our plans were not doing this cruise. Next year it will just be for 1A1K. I'm expecting it to be between then 3-4k for the two of us in a 9c or maybe even a 7a. The EBTA was 3600 in a 9C for the two of us, and the WBTA is usually cheaper so we shall see.

Actually I think your first one was right. The first price is $321.75 a night not $312.75. so yes the difference is showing as 10%.

I was looking at a Cat 11 and forgot that I also had a OBC booking so would have been 10% cheaper for 2017 one compared to the 2018 which may have been the other difference possibly (or I just got my calcs the wrong which is also possible - would you believe I work with numbers!).

I've however done the calcs using the Cat 7 comparison on the threads on this board and I have the following:

Cat 7A 2A no ins/trans/grat/OBB (gone for the one category I found like for like prices)

2017 - $4778.13 which is $318.53 a day
2018 - $5039.88 which is $387.62 a day

so the increase works out to about 21%

So not as bad as a thought but still more than I expected. I was thinking a 5-10% increase this year but its double that!

That was what I thought that verandah rooms might have gone up a lot more than an OV room. 7-10% is pushing our limits for increase/year. I looked at the cost of the first EBTA we took in 2014 it was only 11 nights and cost just over $2000 for 2A and 1C in a SPH room. The Transatlantics are not the bargain the used to be.

No and with the increase in flight prices compared to a roundtrip cruise as you have to buy either a 2 step or a one way it makes it look even less attractive. I am thankful for my 25% discount this year as its made it affordable but next years wont be I feel. Still waiting for WBTA prices as date wise that one works for me but we shall see.

My first Disney Transatlantic was in May 2013 @ $980 + tax pp for an 11B - with a truly mediocre itinerary from Galveston to Barcelona (Castaway Cay, Madeira, and Gibraltar). My next TA was in May 2015 @$1500 + taxes pp for an 11B - but that TA had a very nice itinerary from Port Canaveral (NYC, St. John's, NL; Reykjavik, Oslo, Copenhagen). That was such a popular itinerary that the prices increased quickly and by large amounts at a time. The prices nearly doubled for some cabin categories. I checked prices the following year, also to Copenhagen, and those prices were even higher.

I briefly considered changing from the April 2018 PC to the May 2018 TA cruise. Even though I haven't been to those ports, it's not worth ~ $1800 pp to me for an inside.

As you pointed out, the dollar has strengthened considerably to the pound is the last few years; therefore costs to foreigners for DCL cruises are going to increase by even more than they are for us Yankees.

MUN

Seems that way :( Although it hasn't necessarily been true for all our travel to your lovely country - we have a September trip to Disneyland booked which consists of 2 international flights and 2 internals, cheapest price we have ever paid for flights!! Think that's why the shock was so much for the cruise - we hadn't really felt the effect for our next trip so wasn't expecting it! Hey ho - more overtime it will have to be

That's good news about the flights. As you know currencies fluctuate. I've been to the UK twice and both time the pound was strong compared to the dollar. We have Norway cruise booked for June and I am loving the strong dollar.

Enjoy your trip to Disneyland!
