Summer 2018 prices!!!

Yes we are booked on the September 9, 2017 EC cruise. Did this exact cruise in 2015, same dates. We had a wonderful time and great weather. We know it could be ugly, but we made sure we bought insurance, which is the only real thing you can do. We were willing to take another chance for 2017. We just got back from a back 2 back February cruise and also had beautiful weather. The water was a little cool, but we all got in. These are the only two times we can afford to go.

Well that's us booked on 22nd of sept 2018 eastern carribean cruise. Just need to hope the weather is nice and we get to go lol

We are on the Wonder this summer to Alaska. Same cruise week in 2018 is $500 higher than what we paid and the price we paid was $600 higher than opening day.
We originally booked a different week on opening day but had to move it due to schedule changes. We love Disney and understand it is in business to make money for the shareholders but still sad we are priced out at current prices. I don't see us going in 2018 at the current prices with our oldest heading to college in fall of 2018. Family requested a trip to California so all will work out. We'll go someplace new for less money and kids will be happy. And we can get a Disney fix and check out Disney Land which we've never done. Hopefully we can find a week off season or catch at GT rate as I really love DCL trips. At least we've been fortunate enough to take a few trips on the Dream and Fantasy and now Wonder. My daughter's friend went on the Dream last summer and said it was a once in a lifetime trip so that helps put things in perspective.

I'm booked on the Vista and Harmony and Escape are coming in less than the Vista this Fall. The Vista has a much better itinerary though. I've cruised on the Breeze and loved it. I'm intrigued by the new msc seaside. Amazing looking ship, good prices and 49.00 deposits right now. I've heard it mentioned a few times on here. I'm just wondering what their teen program is like.

I'll do that. We just had an AMAZING time spending NYE on the reimagined Wonder out of Galveston, so the Liberty has a high standard to live up to! I fear my kids may be disappointed, we've been preparing them for the differences in the kids clubs. My husband has always wanted to do an Alaska cruise, personally my idea of vacation involves lots of warm weather and beaches or anything Disney, so DCL may be the only way to get me to Alaska

Ha! That's exactly how I feel about Alaska. Booked for 2018. We shall see if it really happens.

I don't see any big price increases between 2017 and 2018. They're are still a lot higher than other cruise lines. I have been looking at cruisefish and I don't see huge price jumps on this years cruises outside of Alaska so maybe sales aren't as good as past years? It seems like prices have stabilized or come down. Not sure how thats going to help those of us that were priced out 2 years ago. I'm only booking DCL because I'm traveling with just my youngest son next year. If all four of us were cruising I'd be on the Royal, Carnival or NCL discussion board.
My youngest loves DCL and all things Disney so I will book the cheapest inside room, and it will be worth it for him.

I don't have a 2017 to 2018 comparison, but 7-day Fantasy Cat 8D 1A 2C eastern the week before Labor Day is up 30% from 2016. The ship was chartered for that week this year. 30% seems high for a 2-year increase.

I'm wondering if DCL is just being more aggressive with opening day prices. So if I had booked my 2016 cruise 6 months after opening day it would have been 25% or so higher. So why start so low?

I calculated based on the EBTA compared 2017 to 2018 opening day prices and the increase is around 13% but is actually 2 nights less so per day it has gone up 30% in a year! This seems mad when you can get other cruise lines at less than 1/2 this price with the same stops etc.

I did the WBTA in 2015 booked not on opening day and am booked on the WBTA 2017 booked on open day and the price increase between the two was around 45%. The only reason I could justify the extra was I had a 25% discount voucher and the 10% OBB discount I could use on top of this which brought it down. I have a feeling this years WBTA when released will have around a 30% increase as shown in a number of cruises at least and I can't justify that when other cruise lines are so much cheaper. Its a shame as I love Disney but I don't think they offer enough to justify it.

I'm not really complaining about DCL pricing as it's no surprise at all, but I was checking some prices on some of the other lines during the summer (2017 and 2018) and with the current promo Celebrity has, we could get a verandah stateroom, 7 night EC with $300 on board credit and classic beverage package for 2 - total $2800 for 2 adults, 1 child. This is for mid August.
On Celebrity Equinox. Now.. I have no idea what Celebrity is like but this is an amazing deal.
I think? Almost want to cancel our WDW this summer.

I compared the 4 night Dream we did last year right before labor day to what Disney is offering 2018 right before labor day, both prices for 2A2K 5D on opening day and the 2016 price was 3000 and the 2018 is 3700. Just another data point for everyone

I'm using that placeholder for a week in 2018 on the Fantasy but we're doing RCL Allure this year. If it's as awesome as everyone says we'll have too see if we keep the 2018 or not.

I am skeptical of your claim that prices have doubled for the same cruise in 3 years.

Our family of 5 took an early June Alaska cruise in 2013 and we booked 2 OV rooms. I compared the same category of rooms for a similar cruise date for 2018 back to 2015 for our party of 5 and I noticed that prices increased by 48%. That is more than a healthy increase! I'm not saying your statement is incorrect, just pointing out what I noticed. Perhaps for a verandah (which I know go for a premium for Alaska) the prices have increased more.

I will add, we paid about the same price for our Alaska cruise in 2014 as we did for Western Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy over Easter 2013. So at the time of our Alaska cruise, I thought we were getting a good deal.

If you have no intention of sailing with DCL within the next 2 years, there is no reason to do a placeholder.

As you pointed out, the dollar has strengthened considerably to the pound is the last few years; therefore costs to foreigners for DCL cruises are going to increase by even more than they are for us Yankees.

Prices on the TA's are lower in general so work out great value but its the year on year increase that shows the change. Also note its 30% per night so if they number of days change then you need to factor that in. Its only around a 15% increase overall for the cruise but the number of nights changed which is what then makes it more. I'd factor in around 15-20% increase then it wont be a shock when the prices get released.

Yeah, we're out for DCL in 2018 as well. I can sail on the Liberty of the Seas out of Galveston (with a balcony and AYCD beverage package) for a little over $3k for a family of three.

We booked the EBTA for 2017 and 2018 on opening day and only see a 10% increase. We booked 9C room on both cruises in 2017 our cost is $4826.31 or $312.75/night and in 2018 $4503.62 or $346.43/night. That is a difference of $33.68 or 10% it isn't a small amount but definitely not 30% maybe different categories have increased by a lot more but not 9C's
