summer 2005 dates

Tera,
We'll fly in the night before, too. Haven't figured out where we'll stay yet either. The Hyatt at the airport looks fun, but I looked at prices for May 2004 (they don't go out that far in 2005 yet) and it was $186. I'm sure we could find cheaper-- and better ways to spend the $ !! Are you going to use DCL transfers, or someone else?

LG - I think I'd rather stay at a place closer to port, but still not sure at this point. Maybe Radisson or RonJon's. We weren't planning on doing DCL transfers. We're hoping to catch the Radisoon shuttle to the hotel and then have them take us to port. You'll definitely find something cheaper than $186.

Isn't this thread drifting off the topic of Summer 2005 cruise dates?

Cap-
You're right. Sorry! With two new first-timers, what can you expect? Thanks to everyone! I'll be an expert by the time the ship leaves!

Sorry Cap! Just nice to talk to someone else who's booked on the same cruise as us:teeth:

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc We would love a cruise on the West Coast!! :bounce: :bounce: The anticipation in growing for the announcement!!

Just off the March 20 Magic cruise. We re-booked abaord to nail down the discount and cabin credit, but just had to pick a mythical date, since we want July 2005. The agent told me that the exact date they will announce the summer 2005 sailings will be in "early May", and suggested that I call several times in April to find out the exact date, so I can call that day to move our booking to the date we really want to sail. No hints of destinations offered.

One of the othersites has a DCL support staff member, and she asked at the weekend what was going on with the summer 2005.

The CM there said that they had herd that the Magic was off to Disneyland for three months but they didnt mention when the annoucement would be made.

If you look at the DCL website its under RATES DATES ETC, sellect 7 day carribean cruises and the dates fro all of 2005 have been added. Howver all June> August Magic cruises show TBA, and there has been a line added above the panel also confirming the dates in this period are 'To be annouced'.

We just all cannot wait.

WHO DO YOU THINK WILL KNOW FIRST, TRAVEL AGENST, DCL WEBSITE, OR CALLING DIRECT, OR AN ANNOUCEMENT RE DISNEYLANDS 50TH?

I don't think the DCL site will be one of the first to have the new information. They've been so slow with updating the site. PLUS, it seems that in the past whenever new information was available via dcl directly, it wasn't on the site for weeks. A good example of this was the 10-day December cruise. It took quite some time after the announcement before they made it available for booking online.

While on the 20 March cruise, the booking agent said to expect a different itenarary but to sail out of Canaveral for Summer, 05.

I think that with all the different information we have heard the ONLY thing we can be sure of, is that no one( TAs CMS) knows what they are talking about! LOL :D

I know we are all in the minority here - even though it seems sooooo man of us are waiting to cruise next summer. Can't help wondering how fast it will book. Since we plan on booking two adults with points and three cash, do you think we can wait til August - our 11 month window? Or do you think a percentage of cabins will be set for DVC and might still not have a chance of getting two cabins.

I had asked previously too, I wonder how this big announcement will be made - is it big enough news for the whole public to know on our local news (like this past week-end, we were told on the news about the price increase for tickets)?

AnnaS,

I am having similar worries. I work in an office where we basically have no contact with the outside world (except the customers) I don't get home until 6:30pm. If the bookings are not previously announced and suddenly open up one day I'm afraid that these will fill very fast. My reservation will be a transfer (booked a mythical date onboard) so I will need to phone a cm to do the transfer. I am hoping that they will pre-announce the time.

I think if the ship is repositioned for the Disneyland 50th celebration you may get a blurb about it on the news. (Especially if you watch ABC news, haha) I can't imagine that the entire summer would book up in one day but what do I know really.

It may be a wait and see game with other cruise lines. Princess and Norweign have not announced their summer 2005 plans. I know it's frustrating, but it's also a little exciting.

At my age, the only excitement I want to have is on horseback!!!

If that is the case, I think we would probably switch our already-booked March 5, 2005 cruise.

We're booked on the March 5th cruise too crsndsny.
While on the ship earlier in the month I booked a second cruise with no date in particular (I think it was sometime in May 05) so I can transfer the $200 obc and 10% discount if the West - East Panama Canal cruise occurs.
I am a bit worried about how much Disney is going to charge for this one though. I know it is a chance of a lifetime but having seen the 10 day Christmas prices I have a feeling they KNOW they can charge an arm and a leg and there will be lots of takers with their wallets out.
I have already given our travel agent the reservation I have on file to switch, cabin choices and the OK to book it as soon as it is available to be booked. IF it is so extraordinarily expensive I'll cancel later on.

Cheers,
Grumbo

COOL! I'm a bit nervous about cruising in March and if the price was decent, I'd switch to May or June 05 instead. We're tired of cruising while CC water is cool (twice in Dec. and once in Jan.)

Yes...I guess if the price is financially do-able. Our first Disney cruise was a Christmas 7-day Eastern in 2001. We stayed in Cat.5 and WOW that was expensive. Not sure if I can digest a high price like that again.
