Suites to hold large number?

Hi!

My dd's prom will likely be held in Anaheim and her and her friends wanted to stay in either the Disneyland hotel or Grand Californian afterward. (They are good kids and me and some other parents will have a regular room in the hotel also). It will likely be 36-46 kids. How could I go about making this cost effective per person? The kids would be fine in sleeping bags and everything so it doesn't matter if the room isn't meant for that many. I don't think there is a room to hold all of them, but how could I go about this? Any suggestions? Thank you!! I know its a tough question!

id call disney and ask about renting out like 4 of there suiets? maybe more see if they have any deals but they wont let more then 5 in reguler rooms becosue fire hazard

Desert Inn has big suites. But same thing most hotels won't allow more than like 6 people in a room

OMG! I hope I wont be there then. I was a good kid too, and stayed the night in a hotel after Prom, but but anytime you get THAT MANY kids together, they are going to be disruptive. I would be willing to bet that those kids going through the halls that late at night are going to really upset some parents of small children that are planning on doing an early morning at the parks the next day.

id say have 1 adult with 5 kids so if 40 kids 8 adults would be best and 8 suiets

Jadedarkstar I don't think that would be cost effective but thank you for the help. We were also not planning on having the parents in the rooms but in a different room on the same hall.

Im sure you meant nothing by it dismom but you really don't know these kids. They appreciate that there will be families sleeping, and judging by last year they will be basically falling asleep after the dance! I'd rather have them down the hall from me than a sports team or school field trip. Those that sleep in late however, they may hear some noise in the morning as they get ready for the parks!! And trust me if they were loud at night I'd be the first to call and complain!

Does anyone have experience with renting large numbers of rooms/suites? Any ballpark prices?

Well, it's usually what 6 in a room max? There is no way they will allow you to do more then that. Especially in large numbers. So if it's $275 a night (which is what we paid for the DLH in June this year), that would be about $45 per person. That's about as cost effective as your gonna get onsite!

well good luck desert inn would be your best bet 100 a night for the suiets there if you book way in advance. 6kids in each room id look at 15 a kid

I have to say I have never priced these, so it could be the most ridiculous thing ever, but don't the hotels have suites that can be used for events like conferences, ect? I thought those held a large group of people. I don't know what the budget will be, with each kid/parent chipping in. And again, they could rent for hundreds, maybe thousands a night for all I know. I just thought I saw a link here somewhere on the DIS, with floor plans for huge full suites, so I thought I would mention it.

I think this is what you are saying here, Emmers, but to clarify, Desert Inn does have suites for up to 12 people.

I'd start calling DLR Group Sales for a block of rooms and tell them there will be an adult in each room (even if there is not) because they won't register rooms to minors. I'd also call some of the local off site hotels that are within a close walking distance to the park. You can spruce up the rooms with balloons, snacks, souviners, etc... "Disney Style" while the kids are out of the rooms, and figure the cost into the per person room rate and still be cheaper than staying at the DLR. Also some off site hotels have "Breakfast included". This will get the kids together in the morning before they head off to the Parks!

Hmmmm... I'd call a few hotels and check on their policies. I'm pretty sure they won't allow a large number of kids, sleeping bags or not, to occupy a couple of rooms. I believe it's a fire code thing.

Thank you so so much for all your help! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for to get me started! And just so you know, most of the "kids" will be 18 so they won't be breaking that rule. I didn't think about fire codes though...

They are quite strict on this and I would hate for some kids to be asked to leave in the middle of the night so make sure you only have the max per room. Also I believe those huge suites are for conferences and not for guests staying the night as they appear to only have sleeping arrangements for six or less depending on adjoining rooms. DLH would be your best bet and getting suites and splitting that with six kids. Or offsite which would be cheaper. Hope it all works out!

PS If those girls are anything like my friends and I were then they'd be fine and respectful. If not my daddy woulda got after me big time!

I know you said you wanted the Grand Californian or Disneyland Hotel but have you looked into the Camelot. We stayed there with my DH and I and 5 kids. The one bedroom suite has a bedroom with 2 queens and there is a queen and sofa pullout in the main area. We had tons of room.

Also check out Staybridge Suites they have some pretty good size suites from what I was reading. The Hilton over in Orange also is a suites hotel also. Good luck.

Desert Inn says their C1- C2 and B suites can easily hold 8 people. 4 Q beds plus 1 pull out sofa so I guess 9. I would do that IMO That many kids you would need 4 suites approx.
