Suite vs standard room

Hi,

At the end of September, DH and I are planning our first trip to Disneyland with our two small boys (2.5 yrs and 4.5 yrs.) We are planning to stay at the Grand Calif. Hotel and we can’t decide whether or not to book a 1-bedroom suite or a standard room. We’re thinking that with both kids still doing naps and having a bedtime of 7:30, we’re better off having a separate place for them to sleep. At the same time, cost is a medium issue and a suite is twice the price of a standard room.

If cost isn’t the whole issue, are the suites worth it for the extra room to put the kids to bed or do you find that a standard room is just fine because the kids tend to stay up later anyway (with the parade and story time) and us tired parents are happy-as-clams to go to bed when the kids do :faint: ?

If you recommend the standard rooms: Are they comfortable for two adults and two kids? Do you recommend a particular room? If I upgraded to a room with a view, do you recommend a “Theme Park View” or “Downtown Disney View” or would you not recommend these with small children because these views are too bright and noisy?

Lastly, if you’re still reading this ;) , what do you think of upgrading to a concierge floor. Is this the way to go when traveling with small kids (I’m thinking of the snacks they supply throughout the day as well as the easy check-in) or is this really not worth the money?

Thank you for any help you can give.

Tami

You may want to do an afternoon nap and allow them to stay up later... Get a standard room and pass out with the kiddos. Fireworks are around 9:30, excitement of the day. You may find yourself crunched for time if you stick to your 7:30 bedtime.

We always go with a suite or if not available two adjoining rooms. We just all get so much more sleep when not crowded into one room.

What is the layout of the suites? Do they all come with a mini fridge? We're coming out for the Half Marathon and I'm wondering if there will be a place to keep bottled water and gatorade ;)

Thanks in advance!!!!
