Suite/Condo type accommodation?

Although we are all booked to go for August 2007 we are also looking ahead to summer 2008 when DD and her long term boyfriend want to come with us.
We are looking specifically for a suite type of accommodation with some cooking faciliites (DD is gluten intolerant and so needs to fix her own breakfasts etc). We would also like two bathrooms and two bedrooms both with double beds. Any ideas on this? Most of the suite hotels and condos we have seen so far have twin beds in the second room (or worse, bunk beds!!)?

Seems most of the hotel suites are catering for young families. You may have to look for a resort community condo or townhome instead. Many of these can be booked directly with the owners and usually at a good saving compared to hotel rooms.

Check out www.vrbo.com which is the biggest US site for vacation rentals - you will have plenty of choice there.

We stayed here a few years ago when it was called the Holiday Inn Family Suites, it has now been renamed and themed with NickJr so it is fun for kids.
The pool area has allsorts for kids of all ages.

Go to a townhome (which is a bit cheaper than a villa). These are at Windsor Hills which is nearest to Disney. We are going there in 2 weeks. Most hotel rooms aren't big enough.

We are staying at Sheraton Vistana Villages (south i-drive)as we are me, DH, DD's 4 & 19months and my Mum.
Mum wants her own room.
Our "villa" (apartment) consists of two bedrooms, one king in one and two queens the other, each with their own bathroom, a lounge (with a queen sleeper sofa too) and full kitchen (washer, dryer, fridge/freezer,oven &micro).
I havent been before but like you we wanted flexible accomodation.
A friend has been there and rated it and he requested something called a "lock-off" and got it free of charge and basically as well as the above there is an additional one bed appt with it's own full facilities (kitchen, bathroom, lounge, bedroom) attached via a connecting door.
Look at the sheraton website (we booked via virgin) or on tripadvisor website.
I'll be able to tell you what I think in about six weeks time!
There are lots of suite based accomodations in Orlando though.

Another vote for the Vistana Villages - If you dont mind paying the bucks - this place is excellent and in a great location too.

Its so good we're going back in October.

We've stayed in Marriotts Grande Vista, which has a King, a double and two fold out settee beds in it, sleeping eight, and this year we're going to Marriotts Cypress Harbour. Their units are the same size. both have two bathrooms, full kitchen and laundry facilities.

If you look on interval internationals website, www.intervalworld.com there are about 50 hotels along similar lines in the Orlando area, and although you couldn't book on there it would give you a lot of options.

You can get some really good deals at some of the timeshare places if you book direct with an owner.
We stayed at Cypress pointe II in January for 2 weeks and paid $500 for a 2 bed apartment. This place was great and practically right at the entrance to down town disney.

This is the main reason we bought our timeshare. We own in the lakes but have only stayed there twice. We've exchanged and got Old Key West and the Boardwalk Villas for peanuts, and have been offered Villas at WL and Saratoga Springs in the past. We prefer the Marriott places though but still get them for next to nothing.

I discovered Floridays Resort on www.alpharooms.com. For our dates in Nov. it was only $157 (82 Pounds)/nt. for a 2 br and $229 (119 Pounds) for a 3BR, incl all taxes/fees. There are 2 double beds in the guest bedrooms and king in the master br.
Never stayed there but it looks nice.

We looked at buying at Floridays (went for Coral Cay instead though ) and it is lovely. They are apartments with either 2 or 3 bedrooms and very nicely furnished.

Have a look through the main board - was reading a review from someone who stayed there recently and there seems to be a problem with security. This is probably due to it still being in construction phase and there is not the security gate yet. Quite a few cars have been broken into recently but this may be sorted by the time you go.
