The problem is that you really have no way of knowing that...other than the opinion of the "pusher". And really, does it matter? What if the guy had stood there for 6 hours and then jumped? You still missed your appointment, but now there is a body count. Isn't the best outcome one that includes everyone being alive at the end of the day? So what if there was traffic?
The potential jumper deserves our compassion rather than someone trying to help him "get on with it" so that the rest of us can get on with our mundane lives. If my mom had stood on a bridge for 5 hours rather than getting in her car and sitting in the garage, maybe someone could have stopped her.
I am just saying that your perspective can change in an instant.
I am so sorry to hear about your mom.
