and the answer to the question "ever fallen in love with someone....

So many times I can't count.

(still at least this time my man got me DVC!!!)

Susan

Is that Suggs, as in Madness Suggs ?

Cor I'm really reminising now, thinking of The Smiths and The Buzzcocks, do you remember XTC and 'We're only making plans for Nigel' (wahoo!!) ?

Yes I remember all of those. All terrific songs (not sure about the Nigel song though Mandy ;) )

The Buzzcocks song is one of my absolute favourites!

My fave 'Smiths' song was 'How soon is now', blimey it was released in 1985, was it really that long ago that I went everywhere with my trilby hat (thankfully here are no photos in existence to prove it !!)

Trilby???? Trilby???

No photos though :(

;)

I know, I know, but the Ska movement was big in Coventry, especially with The Specials coming from there, and I sort of couldn't lose that hat for 4 or 5 years - it was a cross between a trilby and a pork-pie hat. :dancer:

Oh I would have loved to see that :rotfl:

Mind you I've worn some dodgy stuff in my time LOL

Dodgiest gear I've ever worn without a doubt was during my Bay City Rollers phase. Three quarter length jeans with tartan trim and a tartan scarf tied around my neck and around each wrist. I thought I looked great - but I was under 10 at the time.

Ooh Joanne, you're giving your age away now. I wasn't into the Bay City Rollers, I was more a Donny Osmond, David Cassidy fan back in the early 70's. :)

Now your talking, David Cassidy was my idol, I had a massive poster of him above my bed, :love2:

I had a tartan cape :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

My first ever concert ... oh my!! Would have been the Cure. I saw them twenty one times in all :earseek: though I left my tartan cape at home on those trips :rotfl:

... & what about the best concert you ever went to

I saw Simple Minds at the Birmingham Odeon in the early 80's, they were brilliant :)

ok we have just got back from the indian and DH has taped onto the TV the suggs show and he has got:-

Too much too young - specials

Reward - Teardrop explodes

On my radio the specials

They have not got to Making Plans for Nigel - we got his future in british steel

XTC was the band who aslo sang sgt rock.

but i am sure it will come. I reckon we should do some time one of those nice pub pop music quizes.

Susan

So full up from that chicken phaaal

Well the first concert I ever saw was Emerson, Lake and Palmer, which was great but the best concert I ever saw was Prince, absolutly fantastic, a close second was Bryan Ferry. :goodvibes

My best concerts ... oh my!!

The Cure at any of the times I saw them ;)

Faith No More at the NEC
Sisters of Mercy at the NEC
Metallica at the MK Bowl

I saw the cure at wembley arena in 1985

Robert Smith lived down the road from me a while ago, they had a recording studio there, he used to turn up in the local traditional white hart hotel with his hair all skew whiff and wonky make up!! The locals thought Satan had arrived :rotfl2:
Great music BTW, also loved 'Olivers Army' Elvis Costello

My first concert was the Teardrop Explodes too - in Southend on Sea. I remember Julian Cope getting humpy because everyone was talking during the slow songs!
