I'll be at WDW for a few days in mid October. I'll be there after a business conference and won't have any family with me. My plan is to spend 2-3 days at the park, mainly shooting pictures.

Any suggestions? Anything anyone wants me to shoot?

I'm planning on doing a lot of night shooting because I rarely get to do much with the kids in tow. I think I'm going to skip MGM because I find it the least photogenic of the three parks. I'm going to do a lot of stuff that requires a tripod, because I rarely use one on normal trips.

Have fun! Nighttime tripod shooting is a lot of fun. I spent the last night at DL running around after closing with my tripod and would have enjoyed a little more time to do so. Several evenings at WDW last trip I was running around with the tripod at full extension... good times, good times. :lmao:

have fun! can't wait to see what you come up with...I'd love to do more night shooting...Disney at night is amazing!

Surprise us!! :thumbsup2 Enjoy your time alone!! We're leaving in a few days and I assure you my "running around with a tripod" is not on the agenda!! ( a dream is a wish your heart makes!!) I'll be doing good to get a few pictures with everyone looking in the same direction!! :goodvibes you know -- that would be an awesome giveaway -- 2 to 3 hours post closing to shoot to your hearts content!!! :cloud9:

Just want to say that I can't wait to see your pictures. Whatever you shoot, I know it will be beautiful. All that time alone and with a tripod, awesome. I made a trip last week with just DH but I still felt guilty stopping just to shoot pictures and didn't get anything great. Have fun!

I'd like to see some Wishes firework shots with the castle nicely exposed. Please. :)

I thought WDW had four theme parks?

MGM at night is actually very cool. Better than during the day I think. I also LOVE shooting EPCOT at night. All the different countries, Future World and Illuminations.

When we go in Nov, one night when we see Wishes I plan on taking pictures both with and without a tripod. Would be good to have both for the How To Shoot: Fireworks thread. Take pics handheld at a high ISO and a relatively short shutter to compare side by side with a tripod low ISO and long shutter. Something to think about. Also if you do end up at MK and shoot Wishes, change your aperture during the finale to a very narrow f/stop like f/22. See how much of a difference it makes with all that extra light going off.

No matter what you end up doing...... HAVE LOTS OF FUN!!!! Looking forward to seeing the results when you get back.

I second some good night castle shots!!

We do mostly night shots here, night owls, no lil ones... but this trip we are taking MIL and she is sure to have us up early, so I will actually get more day shots this time :)

Enjoy it, night time there is my favorite. No heat and it is just soooo nice to stroll around with it all lit up :thumbsup2

If you goto EPCOT i'd like to see some nice fountain shots with SSE in the background now that the wand is down.

Thanks.

If during your conference you are staying at a Disney Resort you may want to take advantage of the extra magic hours. I have never been to AK after dark and don't usually see too many pictures of that park at night- I guess because it usually closes fairly early. I know I am planning on trying to get a few shots in there during those extra three hours next week while I'm over there- Wednesday night I think. :)

Looking forward to seeing your results Mark.

Mark...
Thanks soooo much for offering to shoot some pics for us DISers and have a "Magical" time. :thumbsup2

The biggest challenge I find is taking Fantasmic pics, lots of action, different scenes to move around a tripod and try to get decently like mickey, dragon, snake, character boat..etc. Yes...take a zillion and keep a few.:headache:
So..if your inclined to try it..I'd love to see "your" shots!! :woohoo:

Looking forward to any shots you care to share. Hey, please share your Exif data too?? :upsidedow :upsidedow

I've scheduled a May solo trip to have fun and practice my photography.
I'll be there in Oct too, but with family in tow, so don't know how much I'll get done.

Will look for you...
...can't be too many guys out there wearing dive goggles and have chipmunk cheeks...right??? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Those are not that uncommon... the problem is that when you're using bulb mode, you're usually working on getting the right length of fireworks captured, and very long fireworks trails will lead to an overexposed castle, and vice versa. But there are usually several in the bunch that have the castle nicely exposed.
