I am currently planning my first trip to WDW:yay:. My husband and I are going without the kids in September. We are staying onsite, and have park hoppers. I'm really excited and have made all of my ADRs already. My husband is kind of a picky eater and not too adventurous.

I have booked Yak and Yeti for lunch on the 15th. The only time available was 11am. My husband is not interested in trying Tusker House. Animal Kingdom has evening EMH that night, and we would like to take advantage of that. I don't want to have to be at the park all day since it will be really hot. My question is should I keep it and go back to our hotel for a midday break, or should I book a breakfast elsewhere and just eat counter service for our meals at AK? What restaurant would you suggest for breakfast if we decide to do that instead? We're pretty flexible since it is just the two of us.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the boards!

The only time available for Yak & Yeti all day was 11 a.m.? Wow! That sounds a little early for that kind of food.

If you're planning on attending evening Extra Magic Hours, I strongly suggest taking a midday break. It will be too hot to spend an entire day and night in the park. I think the ideal situation would be to have an early dinner at Yak & Yeti before Extra Magic Hours. If that's impossible, counter service may be your best option.

I would go for the Yak and Yeti counter service (can't remember name, but at there the last two times) instead of 11 am reservation. It will give you more flexibility in your schedule.

Regarding breakfast if your husband is a picky eater, I would suggest save your money and eat breakfast at your resort's counter service. We think the breakfast buffets are expensive for bacon and eggs since he doesn't really want to try something new. If you can get him to venture, Boma's breakfast buffet is amazing (again pricey for bacon and eggs).

Good luck!

I completely agree with this!! Also, we found that we liked the counter service version of Yak and Yeti better than the sit down restaurant.

I hate to be negative, but the Yak & Yeti counter service location is far inferior to the table service restaurant in my experience. The honey chicken consisted of most batter with a bit of chicken drenched in corn syrup. Everything else was just oily. The actual restaurant had nice grilled and wok-seared dishes that were lovely.
