Hi,

I am trying to decide on where to make an ADR for the first night of our WDW visit (well technically 2nd night as we arrive 8pm the night before after 17hours of flying). I want to surprise my good friend who is travelling with me and treat her to a great meal to kick off our holiday. I was thinking of one of the restaurants at a monorail resort (or a MK restaurant) as MK has late EMH that night and we might sleep in the first morning after such a long flight and leisurely make our way to MK. We have an ADR for Chef Mickey's breakfast later in the trip.

It will be Dec 15 so hopefully we will see some gorgeous decorations.

I would really appreciate any suggestions.

'Ohana or Kona at the Poly, or California Grill at the Contemporary might be good bets.

Grand Floridian Cafe, Narcoossee's or Citricos, all at the Grand Floridian which will be beautifully decorated.

Narcoossee's and Citricos are Signature restaurants (2TS on the Dining Plan). We loved dinner at Narcoosse's, considered Citricos and hope to do GF Cafe at some point in the future. All seem to get good reviews.

Thanks for the replies. I will have a look at the menus. They all sound wonderful and were all on my list of restaurants I was thinking about.

Once again, thanks for your suggestions

Hands down, California Grill. It is on the top of the Contemporary and enclosed in glass. Try to make your ADR about 1 hour before the fireworks. When you make your ADR you can ask what time fireworks start. It may be difficult to get an ADR at this point. There is a long catwalk that you can walk out on after your meal to view the fireworks. The music is piped in. We did it in 2005 and everything was spectacular...food, ambience, view etc... I could go on and on. It was fabulous. :goodvibes

Another vote for Cali Grill....that is the best choice for this!!!

California Grill sounds great but if we make our ADR for around 1 hour before wishes etc. will we still be able to get into MK after wishes to take advantage of evening EMH? Or will we be too late to get the wrist bands?

Thanks again.

Come to think of it, the night we went to Cali Grill, MK did have an EMH that night. This was in 2005. We had a big group and quite a few bottles of wine. As crazy as it already was, we went back to the MK with 5 kids ages 3 yrs to 3months! Granted, we were staying at the Contemporary anyway which is a short walk from MK....no lines for the buses at 12am closing. You can also take the monorail to the MK after dinner. Also, you might ask the CM who takes your ADR how long before the fireworks should you make your ADR...maybe 1 1/2 hrs? I don't think you'll have trouble getting into the park for the EMH.

Take a look at the menus for both Narcoossee's and CG. They are quite different with CG being more eclectic, not appealing to everyone. Both give you a Wishes experience. Take the boat from the GF back to MK. Narcoosse's is located right at the boat dock.

Oh, I didn't realise that you could see wishes from Narcoossee's as well as California Grill! I will have a look at both menus. Thanks so much. I know at California Grill, you watch wishes from the viewing deck/platform. Where do you watch it from Narcoossee's?

My vote is for Ohana's or Cali grill. Have fun!
