Moody Gardens is a hotel & family entertainment/education complex in Galveston that is great to stay at. Moody Gardens is composed primarily of pyramids: a rainforest pyramid, aquarium pyramid, science pyramid, an artificially constructed "Palm Beach" area in summer, a functioning riverboat, and an ice slide and Trail of Lights during Christmas. It's a destination in itself, and would be a nice day or two addition to a cruise. There is also a Schlitterbahn water park with a year-round indoor water-park area right across the street. I doubt they have free port transportation, though. We are booked on the Wonder in January leaving out of Galveston. We fly into Houston the day before and thought it best to drive the hour from the airport to Galveston the day before and stay closer to the port the night before embarkation. Any suggestions on where to stay? Possibly a place that offers transportation to the port?
