I am looking for some suggestions to help my DD, who will be 3 years old at the end of August, learn who some of the Disney chartacters are. We have Pooh & friends and Mickey Mouse and friends down pat! As well as Arial and a few others. But I would like her to be able to reconize some of the other characters she will see. I thougt about watching the Disney movies, but we just do not watch that much TV.
She loves to read. What about some very short story books or picture books, do they exist?
Any other ideas?
TIA :)

Fo rmy dd 2.5's 1st trip, we bought Disney's Junior Encyclopedia of Animated Characters. GI don't know how to post a link, but seach on the interenet. It was a great tool that we would read a few pages every night before bed.

You can print out some coloring pages and make her a custom coloring book. Also, the sing-a-long dvds introduce a lot of characters w/fun songs from the movies, without having to watch the whole movie! The Disneyland Fun Sing-a-Long is good...and may also help her get used to how very big the characters are.

We have the princess sing along DVD's (3 of them). Cinderella, Belle and the princess are on it, of course, but so is Pocohontas, Alice with the mad hatter and the white rabbit, Mulan, Maid Marian from Robin hood, Meg from hercules. DD loves them, and sings along with them. Also, the Disneyland Fun singalong songs DVD is awesome because it shows lots of characters, and some rides too.

There's a Disney matching game that works well. There are books out there that have multiple princesses in one book. Also there are Disney books per movie out there. You could also try the Scene It games. I know she/he is only 3, but the game shows pictures and clips from movies that are a very broad range of movies.

I know at our local Family Dollar store there are flash cards and school books that have characters on them you can talk about.

When my kids were little, the months before we went to Disney every week when we went to the library I would get Disney movies and Disney books.

Bedtime books were Disney! Rainy Day movies or down time movies were Disney! I just saturated them with Disney!

Hope that helps.

I like the Sing-a-long movies. If you get the Disneyland one or Campout at Disney World then your daughter will see what the characters look like in real life.

I saw this suggestion before. I want to get the campout one but the only way I found to order it is from an 800 number.:confused3

I actually prefer the real people ones! I have 4: Pongo and Pedita, Disneyland Fun, Flick at Animal Kingdom and Campout at WDW. They are all on VHS. Not sure if you can get them on DVD.

My little guy likes looking at all the photos on here and is able to name some more of the characters now. Today it was the parade thread. I'm not sure if he gets it that we are going to see them for real in a couple of months but I hope so!

BTW - he is convinced the photos of Sleeping Beauty is really his big sister (dd 7)! :lovestruc

Wow, thanks everyone for the great ideas! I will start looking at some of these
:thumbsup2

you can get the sing a longs on dvd - i have found them at Toys R Us. I ended up getting a couple throught the Disney Movie Club though. I ended up geting these so DD's would know that Mickey & friends were not cartoons when we got to the parks.

Disney DVD bingo also has a huge amt of the characters.
DD3 also has a Disney book of My first 1000 words. It has a lot of characters also.
We also have a quite a few of the storyboks with multiple short dtories in them - princesses, pixar, favorites, christmas & winnie the pooh
