Suggestions on DVC rentals

Next summer (June) I am planning on taking my DD13 and DS12 to Disney for an extended stay. We are getting annual passes at the end of this month so we will be using those for next June. We are not picky and usually stay at POP when we are at WDW. My son uses a wheelchair when he is at WDW due to the long distances. That is really the only thing we have to keep in mind about our rooms. I don't mind balcony/no balcony, etc.

We are going to stay about 3 weeks but only a week at a DVC place then probably POP, then some other resort I haven't decided on yet... Just for variety, I think.

I am looking for the cheaper options and plan to rent from David's DVC because I have heard good things about them.

The "cheaper" options are: Jambo House (AKL), Boardwalk Villa, Saratoga Springs, and possibly Wilderness rooms of some sort. We will be going to all parks and we don't mind using Disney transportation.

Any suggestions as well as tips for the DVC rental would be helpful. I know that it is still a year away but I want to be sure and get a room through DVC rental.

Those are all great resorts to choose from! The only tip/suggestion I have is that if you decide to use a broker (like Davids https://www.dvcrequest.com/) then go ahead and contact them to get your name on their list. That way as soon as the 11 month window opens they can start looking for your reservation. The 'cheaper' rooms tend to go pretty quick so the sooner you can book, the better.

I'm guessing that Boardwalk is on your list of cheaper options because the point requirements for standard view villas are so low. Just be aware that there are not a lot of those rooms, and they're the first to be booked, usually at 11 months. The same goes for the value villas at AKV-Jambo. For a more realistic cost estimate for those two resorts, look at the next level up.

Is there a reason you're not considering OKW? The point costs are low there, and if you're looking at studios, that's the only resort with two actual beds in the room.

It can be very hard to rent BWV Standard and AKV Value. Definitely estimate other options at each resort. Best case, you get the cheap unit. Worst case, you aren't freaked out because you can't.

With David's you can put in your reservations at 12 months. That will get you in the system. They will not look until 11 months to the day and as soon as they find a reservations you must pay right away. They are really great to work with and we use them every time we go to Disney. I like Boardwalk. It is so nice and close to Epcot and HS. I hope you have a wonderful trip.

If you request OKW, you'll need to request medical needs or ground floor. Most buildings at OKW do not have elevators.

If you want to book June 2019, you need to contact David next month at the latest. Be ready to pay in full for that reservation. If you think there is any reason at all the cancel, make sure you purchase travel insurance since there are usually no refunds.

Agree with Deb and Bill but also Bldge 62, 63 and 64 have elevators.

One suggestion. I would start at Pop and then move up the luxury scale. It may seem like a downgrade going from a deluxe to a value.

I agree with MarBee - I did a room resort swap where I stayed at Poly first and then moved to Pop for the last 2 days. Pop's a great resort but it's no Poly.

Yes, definitely save your deluxe resort for your last leg of the trip. By then you’ll be more interested in enjoying what the resort has to offer and the deluxe resorts offer more than the value resorts, IMO. You’ll end your trip on a high note, rather than wishing you were still at the nicer resort.
I personally really like AKV and if a standard view villa there is in the budget it’s a nice option. The standard views are a bit more than the value villas, but there are very few value villas and they go fast. There’s also a lot of activities at the resort and of course the animals to watch. With a Jambo standard view you have a decent chance of getting a partial savanna view because many of the standard view villas at Jambo have partial savanna views.

Yep, those are the ones that are usually reserved for medical needs.

Thanks for your suggestions. I plan to spend about 3 weeks so by the last resort we might spend more time at the resort so doing a nicer resort last is a great suggestions!
