We don't do the DDP or eat at a lot TS meals. My kids are picky and will buy chicken nuggets or hot dogs regardless where we eat. We pick two or three TS meals each time we visit WDW. We buy groceries from GG and it works our great for our family. Our next trip will be for 10 days:cool1:. We have five park days. We pack lunch and buy dinner at a QS on park days. We will have 3nights where we'll have dinner in our resort. I don't want to do any crazy elaborate cooking. Any suggestions on dinner meals that our convenient/ quick and easy to make in the resort room? I want to avoid hot dogs or chicken nuggets(since that's what they'll be eating the rest of our trip). I was thinking pasta one night. We will be buying all our groceries from GG, we will only be using Disney transportation so we won't have a car to travel to the grocery store. So what meals do you cook in your resort? TIA!

My family and I stayed at the Ft. Wilderness cabins and had a full kitchen which really helped. I would suggest doing breakfast in the room. We brought in bagels and were able to save cream cheese and butter in the fridge. It's also easy to get milk, eggs, cereal, pancake mix, bacon, or anything else your family likes in the morning. Nothing too complected or messy. Also, it saves so much time in the morning. Instead of waiting for everyone to shower and dress then go to a restaurant and then the parks, it's easy to eat in shifts so you can eat when someone else is in the shower. Then when everyone is done you can go right to the parks and get the day started! There is a grocery store in Crossroads across from DTD but now since there are so many vacation club hotels most resort stores now have a decent grocery selection. There is a Super Target, Super Walmart, and Whole Foods within a few miles of Disney Property too.

As for easy dinners... it will be hard without outside transportation but you can take a taxi to the nearest stores. Depending where you stay there might be a grill around and you can do burgers or chicken. You might be able to order in pizza. Really, anything is possible. Twice my family did a full Thanksgiving meal in non-Disney hotel rooms with a kitchen!

Do you mean a room or a villa? Because you can't cook in your room unless you have a kitchen. (Some people ask about using things like hot plates and slow cookers in regular resort rooms, which is a no-no.)

Yes we stay in a villa...we will be ordering food from Garden Grocer. We eat breakfast in our room, pack lunches for the parks and buy dinner on those days. We will be staying 10 days so we'll have three days in our room for dinner. I'm having a hard time coming up with dinner ideas that are not pasta, hot dogs, or chicken nuggets. Just looking for suggestions for quick/simple dinners;)

We were just at aulani and I cooked a few nights. Frozen pizza, pasta and baked chicken. I've also roasted a small turkey before and meatloaf. I always buy the throw away aluminum foil pans for baking rather than worry about having the right baking dishes in the kitchen. This time in Hawaii we stopped at store on the way. I've never ordered from a Delivery service. But I always bring seasoning salt from home and get the small throwaway salt and pepper shakers when I get there

We also stay in one bedroom or two bedrooms at the resorts. Some of the things I like to cook is beans with rice, different varieties of gumbos , chicken sauce piquante , spaghetti with meatballs and it goes a long way for a large family and also our new neighbors who tell us how good it smells. That's what makes it home for us. This time we are going 8 days at WDW, but only doing the parks for 2, then looking to play golf, swim and my wife loves the spa, that is what we like to do. Hope this helps in planning your meals .

We're staying at OKW in August and I plan to cook a few quick meals to save a few dollars. At home (in the UK) we have a trailer caravan so I am used to cooking simple but nice meals but UK and US tastes are not exactly the same so my ideas may or may not work for you.

I cook Sweet and Sour chicken with rice (the sauce comes in a jar), Fahitas with sour cream and salsa (flour tortillas, served with onions, peppers and steak or chicken fried in a fahita sauce), Curry and rice, Salmon with teriyake sauce and noodles, tuna pasta bake, soup with crusty bread.

I also stir fry veggies (pak choi, peppers, mushrooms, corn, onions, carrot ribbons etc) and add a stir fry sauce and some chicken or prawns or beef.

Hope this helps a bit :)

Shrimp Louie, maybe? Fresh fruit and vegetables with dip are always a hit with my family. Those would be good if you're visiting during hot weather. If it will be during the cooler months, I recommend 'homemade' chili soup. A can of our favorite chili, with extra water added, makes chili soup and we use Doritos or Cheetos in place of crackers. Not the healthiest, but we're on vacation. My family also loves frozen corn on the cob with this.

I would peak around the GG site to see what your family likes that is quick and easy. For instance, Gorton's fish fillets and side dish of pre-made ref. mashed potatoes and a froz/canned veggie or Knnor's side dish with mixed in a meat of your choice (kielbasa to chicken). Buy some frozen meatballs, sauce, and sub rolls to make meatball subs. I'm sure they have plenty of choices.

this is an easy recipe I make at home:
Boneless pork chops
Dijon mustard
Bread crumbs.

coat the chop with Dijon mustard then dip in bread crumbs
Set under broiler 6 min each side.... DONE

Two of my go-to meals when staying in for dinner:

Grilled chicken with fresh mozzerella, tomatoes and roasted peppers, can be served hot or cold

Taco salad - fry ground meat (beef or turkey) with taco seasoning packet (easy enough to bring from home) and add to lettuce with whatever toppings you like (shredded cheese, beans, quacomole, sour cream, diced tomato and onions - salsa) you can add crushed tortillas chips on top too

I'll usually cook both the chicken and taco meat on a night before that I'm not exhausted from the parks so when I need them they just need to be put together

If you are driving, I would stick my crock-pot in and have lots of quick ready to eat meals available. Not sure if you have a grill where you are staying, but that is another way to eat quick and easy meals.

I agree with bringing a crock-pot if you can. It will give you lots of options with very minimal work on your part.

Tuna and Noodles...Canned Tuna..Canned Mushroom soup and egg noodles brought from home-and some milk, that is easy to get from a quick serve.

Here's a really easy Eggplant recipe I've used before but you have to like garlic so not sure if your kids would like it. It was so good, I ate it cold as a sandwich the next day! http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/mario-batali/baked-eggplant-melanzane-al-forno-recipe.html

Something like tuna melts or chicken salad would be easy or even grilled cheese.

You can get sausage links or Bratwurst & pierogis & sautee them or boil them with cabbage.

Breakfast for dinner is always a quick, easy option if your family would like that. Eggs, bacon, toast, hashbrowns, etc.

Frozen pizzas have been pretty handy for me in the past when I stayed off property in a time share unit.

You could google search Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals & get some good ideas there, too. :)

Hope this helps!

The easiest dinner is breakfast for dinner! The kids will think it's funny.
I read on here from someone that they take a Mickey shaped waffle iron with them. Eggs and Mickey waffles would be quick, easy, and fun!

We do granola bars, cereal, baked goods for breakfast
We eat a TS lunch in the parks
Dinner is light - at a DVC Studio we will only have a microwave and a mini refrigerator
;)Our thoughts:
Tuna from a can with crackers and fruit
Microwave Kraft Mac & Cheese (individual cups), Microwave Cambell's soup in a cup, Microwave pasta individual meals. All items do not need refrigeration and could be heated up when we want it.

Maybe the DVC gift shop/store has microwavable meals we could buy for the same evening meal - less to store in the refrigerator. :thumbsup2

since you are in a villa, no problem with equipment GG has almost anything you can get at home and since your kids are a bit picky you could do things that can be prepped in advance like, meatloaf or past with meatballs one night and meat ball subs the next.

Hamburger helper is always a choice. Sloppy Joes too or If the kids like BBQ and if you can do a crock pot (I think I read some where that you can request one at the front desk so maybe someone can confirm that). Pick your meat (I usually do chicken or pork). Cook the meat in the slow cooker with onion, salt, pepper and a splash of both BBQ sauce and ice tea over night on low.
Next morning remove meat and let cool. Rinse crock pot and then pull meat when cool. Add back to the crock pot and add your fav BBQ sauce and a pinch of sugar and whatever spices you like. Cook again on low for another 5 hours. You can serve either sandwich style or alone.

Pancakes ("just add water" mixes are so easy), bacon (cook extra for leftovers -put it on cookie sheet in 400 degree oven 20 min.=less mess than stovetop), fruit, eggs.

Use leftover bacon for quesadilla's, BLT's or grilled cheese/bacon or turkey club sandwiches, then just add canned soup to make a meal

Spaghetti/meat sauce or frozen meatballs (jarred sauce)

Pasta with jarred alfredo and sauteed boneless chicken breasts or strips, could add mushrooms or broccoli

Pan fry center cut ham steaks, boxed mac/cheese, veggies, crescent rolls

Pork chops, sprinkle with season salt/pepper or fave seasoning, pan fry 10-15 min., Ore Ida Steam&mash microwave mashed potatoes, veggies

Those are all things that could be made in 30 min or less and don't require crock pot, since you say you won't have a car.
