We are surprising our kids for our upcoming trip. We plan to tell them a few weeks prior. I have watched countless you tube videos in the past but now I cant find any of the ones I wanted to copy. Any ideas or links to a suggestion video? Thanks

depending on how much you youtube, there is a history feed. Also check pintrest for some ideas. I'm sure it will be great no matter what you do!

Scavenger hunt. A series of clues leading to objects that they will piece together to form the news. For example, give them a clue that leads them to the grocery store to an orange. Another clue leads them to the pet shop where there's a mouse. Another clue leads them to the hobby shop where they'll see plane. Etc.

We're doing a scavenger hunt for our girls the day we leave for WDW. Each clue will lead them to another clue with a letter used to spell out D-I-S-N-E-Y. The last clue will lead them to a big cardboard box with the final letter. Inside the box we are going to have helium balloons(that will hopefully fly out), our magic bands, new Disney shirts, and some other random Disney gifts. Then we are going to jump in the van and head for Florida.

when is the trip? can you incorporate it into an easter egg hunt?

I've read threads where people used some "work for hire" type website to find someone that sounded like mickey to call their kids.. That could be fun.

My mom made a puzzle for my nieces in 2014. It was a big piece of posterboard where she had written "We're going to Disney in 7 days!". She then cut up the pieces so each word was separate, wrapped them all up together except for 7 and Disney. The girls unwrapped most of it while I had 7 and their parents had Disney. It was pretty fun watching them freak out waiting to find out where exactly we were going in 7 days.

We did a morning of reveal. They knew they were taking me to the airport for a convention at the Contemporary (that was true, really had one) and had to be up at 4:15 to get me there for my 7:20 flight. Since they "weren't" coming, we told them we got em a gift. Here are pics of what was in there. Got the exact reaction we were hoping for. The moment the eldest realized we were getting on a plane in a couple hours and thanked us, gets me teary every time I watch it.

When my DD was 4 I did a picture scavenger hunt so that both she and her older cousin could do it together. I took pictures around the house, printed them and then they went from picture to picture. Final reveal was a picture of our telephone and shortly after that a call from Mickey Mouse telling them they were going to Disney but not sure if those calls are still available or not. They both loved it!

I envy all you who can do this. I have a risk-adverse 7 year old, so I have had to show her video after video of the tamer rides so that she'll have some confidence going on them. Also the fireworks, but there is still a chance she will bolt in the direction of the gate when the first one goes off.

I just did a surprise trip in December with my kids, ages 6 and 4. We got up as normal for school in the morning, and I had a "gift bag" for each of them. It contained their magic bands, a stuffed Mickey/Minnie, and tshirts that said My First Trip with their names on them. There was a limo driver in the driveway and we told them that instead of the bus today, we were going to take that car to Disney. They loved it ;-).

We did a scavenger hunt and it was so much fun. It took my kids a few minutes to clue in as they've never been before but it was an awesome way of telling them!

That is so cute! We did a surprise trip and were able to record it from both my angle (who was waiting at the airport with bags in tow) and DH who brought the kids straight after school because they thought they were picking up a family member who was visiting. They saw me coming around the corner with my disney shirt and the rest was history! I live for those videos, priceless! We are hoping to surprise them again this September just don't know how yet since we have a 6am flight :scared:

Mickey and Minnie dropped off a box while we were out bowling on Valentine's Day last year... They wrote her a letter and have her some coupons (good for one Mickey bar, t shirt, etc.)

The box had a small child sized suitcase, coupons, the letter a t shirt and a bunch of balloons... She was 5...

Would your 7yo wear the noise reducing headphones made for children? They were the only way friends could take their son to WDW when he was younger.

I go the video route for my surprises for my sister. She likes to research and plan for events and trips, so I usually make sure to do them early enough to let you be involved.

The videos are usually a combination of photos put to music with some text shots to help her along. So, for our Disney Cruise that was in early December, I found a Disney song with Ariel singing "Christmas in the Ocean" and then I used pictures of the Disney Dream and Castaway Cay decorated for Christmas. I used some text shots to let her know the staterooms I had reserved and the dates of our cruise.

Mine was pretty easy. Whenever I ask my daughter what we should do today she says go to Florida and laughs it off as a whatever. She was surprised when I said OK one morning.

This is so sweet! It made me all teary-eyed. What a great Dad you are, to do that for her!
