My boyfriend and I are discussing having an evening out by ourselves (going on holiday with boyfriends parents, sister, Auntie, Uncle and two cousins) and really don't know where to go or what to do??????

We fancy a nice meal together but realise that posh restuarants isn't really the florida "thing"

So we are toying with the idea of a character meal/ disney themed meal as we can't do that sort of thing back in the UK

do any of you have any suggestions for what we could do?

we will be going over the christmas period 16th dec - 29th dec

any info on prices/booking would be appreciated to :goodvibes

thanks in advance :earsboy:

Don't know if you meant that there aren't any posh restaurants (there are), or you meant posh dining wouldn't be consistent with the Florida vacation experience.

Can't help you with a character meal, but here's a link to the Orlando Sentinel's annual Foodie awards - just out 12/4.

The readers voted their favorites by category, and the paper's food critic comments and gives his selection.

not sure what I meant either :rotfl: a bit of both really, as I have never really seen any posh type restuarants whilst out there so wasn't sure if there were any.

But also it wouldn't feel right to go to Florida and have a posh type meal for some reason!!!!

thanks for the link I shall look at it now :goodvibes

Ohanas for dinner then a walk on the beach to watch the fire works and water parade.

Book dinner at Narcossees, its at the Grand Floridian. The restaurant overlooks the lagoon and offers a picture perfect view of Cinderella Castle. It is even more romantic at night when the fireworks are going off! To top it off, I had a special cake ordered from the Grand Floridian bakery! I had a mickey and minnie in bridal attire sitting on top of the cake. You can get one with a white chocolate castle on it. The cake itself was amazing!! Had to be one of the most romantic nights of our life together. We have also had dinner at O'hanas and walked on the beach during the fireworks. But Narcossees is just wonderful and elegant, and very delicious!!!

I really enjoyed the keys to the kingdom tour. It's about 5 hours long and goes through the history of disney and behind stage to show how some things are done. If you like Disney, I think you will enjoy this tour. I have been down there close to 20 times and there were things pointed out I never noticed before.

Here's more info:

'Ohana is the restaurant at the Polynesian resort. Check out this page for a picture of the beach and info on the restaurant:
http://tikiman2001.homestead.com/poly5.html

You should also be able to find lots of views on it on the Restaurant board. The water parade is a series of lighted floats that are drawn across the lagoon. You can see it from any of the 3 monorail resorts at slightly different times.

Have a great trip!

just bumping this up to the top

keep the ideas coming people

and thanks to all the ideas so far :flower:

another vote for narcossees at the grand floridian, great food especially seafood, romantic, nice terrace with views of the castle & fireworks, plus the victorian ambiance, theres also a beach there if you cant get a adr at firework time. you can see pictures & view the menu at http://www.allearsnet.com under dining

I was about to post the same idea...almost word for word

we both really like the sound of Ohanas and walking on the beach and watching the fireworks etc etc

but we read a bad review on the restuarant page. Apparently Ohana wasn't very good if you are just two adults and not a big group :confused3

anyone got any more suggestions? or perhaps some reviews on Ohana's for couples?

thanks for all the input so far!!!

I see a couple of thumbs up for Narcoosee's at GF. Just wanted to jump in and say yes it's a pretty restaraunt with perfect location to see MK and fireworks, but it is very LOUD! Don't write off Ohana because of a bad review. Try it for yourself. We went as a couple and it was great! Sat along the window with a perfect view of the lagoon. Ohana is loud too but it's supposed to be - activities for the kids etc. Narcoosee's is loud for no reason!

My DBF and I will be taking a carriage ride for two at POR on Christmas night. It is only $30 for both of us. You may want to try booking that.

I hadn't written it off just wanted to see how other couples have found it....have only had positive feedback so far which is good

Just want the night to be perfect ;) :earsboy:

shellface when are you going to be in WDW

Personally I am going to give another thumbs up for Ohana's. I you make Priority Seatings around the fireworks time, it is AMAZING to watch Wishes from your seats. Also the waitstaff really plays into the Polynesian theme. Also the food is mouthwateringly good

Actually two other great restaurants are Alfredo D'orginal in Italy (in Epcot) and the Restaurant in France (believe it is Bistro de Paris) followed by Illuminations then walking over to the Boardwalk resort and taking a walk on the boardwalk, followed by walking to Yaucht and Beach Club....
