I am planning a trip for June 2013 for me, my husband and our 2 teen/young adult children. Our arrival day will be on Sunday, June 16, which is Father's Day. I need suggestions on what to do that afternoon/evening. I'm hoping to arrive around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. We plan to get 3 day park hopper tickets with our first day starting the next day, on Monday. I suppose we could add a day and go into the parks when we arrive, but I'm not sure what would be best.
Thanks for any insight you can provide!

Does anyone know if Father's Day would traditionally be busier than usual for a mid June Sunday afternoon?

Father's Day is not usually noticeably busier. (Mother's Day is, but I guess Dads choose to stay home? - giggle - )

If you don't want to add a day to your passes so you can enter the Parks on arrival day, you could plan to hang in Downtown Disney, wander the shops, enjoy the atmosphere, etc.... You could explore the onsite hotels (they are nice to walk around in). If "Dad" likes sports, you could plan on spending Father's Day evening at the ESPN Zone, maybe. Just a few thoughts.

Well, 4 day tickets are only $25 more than 3 day tickets, so that's probably what I'd do. But if not, as a guy, I'd have to say that going shopping may not be his idea of a great way to spend the afternoon :rotfl:

Dreams' idea of ESPN Zone is a good one if he's a sports fan. I'm not, so I'd be neutral on that. OTOH, one place that I love to spend a few hours is Trader Sams' at the DLH. That place is awesome!

Maybe we can just play it by ear and see what we feel like that day. The extra $25 each wouldn't be too bad for extra time in the parks and an extra night for World of Color or fireworks. I guess we could add that on after we are there if we decide that's what we want to do.

I'm also very intrigued by the idea of hanging out at Trader Sam's. I hadn't heard of it, so I looked it up and it seems like a fun place to spend some time. We might have to make that one of our stops even if we do get the extra day of tickets.

Thanks for the ideas!
