My wife and I are taking our 2 girls to WDW the first week of Dec. and we want to do something special for our oldest, who turns 6 on Friday the 5th. The plan is to keep it a surprise at least until the day before or OF departure which is proving somewhat tough because she's pretty sharp. Anyway, I wanted to see if anybody had any good suggestions on what kind of things we could do on her special day. Thanks in advance.

There are tons of fun ways to celebrate a birthday! Feel free to read my trip report from January 07, linked in my signature. My DD turned 5 on that trip, and she had a truly magical birthday.

When you get to WDW, you can request a Birthday pin for the Birthday girl to wear. You can get this at your resort or at guest services in any of the parks. People will see her pin and wish her a happy birthday for the whole trip!

I spoke the front desk at our resort and arranged to have balloons and a card left in our room from DD's favorite character (Sleeping Beauty.)

Schedule a fun character meal on her birthday. (Or if you're like us, schedule one for each day of the trip!!) Make sure to mention that you are celebrating a birthday on your reservation - most sit down restaurants gave my dd a special bday cupcake after every meal for the entire week! :lmao: Some places also had special cards or a laminated placemat for her as well. 1900 Park Fare even gave her a bday tiara. You can also special order a birthday cake if you like. We did this at 1900 Park Fare for her bday dinner. Everyone in the restaurant sang to her!

If you do the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on her bday, she will receive a special Birthday sash that is different from the regular BBB sash.

There are so many fun things that you can do. I hope your DD has a magical birthday! pixiedust:

:thumbsup2 We went to the Princess breakfast in Norway at Akershus for dd's 7th birthday. She had a blast. They brought her a viking helmet cookie and the waitress said happy birthday in Norwegian. She also got a birthday card signed by all the princesses. She wore her birthday button all day and everyone said hapy birthday to her. It was a great day.

Which resort did you stay at that delivered the balloons and card from Sleeping Beauty to your room? Sleeping Beauty is my DD favorite princess too and we are also celebrating her 6th birthday while at WDW!! Also, how much did it cost for the balloons and card? Did they deliver them before you left for the day, or while you were gone? Sorry for all of the questions, I am just really getting excited and it seems like the time is just dragging!!! And one more, did you arrange it before you got there, or once you checked in?
TIA

We were at POFQ, but I *think* they will do it anywhere.

I just went down to the front desk the day before her bday, and asked if there was anything they could do for her birthday. They suggested the card and asked which character was her favorite. When we came back to our room the next day, we found the card with a few balloons in the room. No charge! :wizard: DD was very excited to get a card addressed to her from SB. princess: Now please don't quote me; I don't know if this is standard. I just asked, and this is what they did for us. If you wanted to do something more elaborate, I'm sure that the front desk could help you find a service.

We celebrated my DD's 6th birthday at WDW with a Wishes cruise complete with having her birthday cake on the boat. It was somewhat pricey, but very special. Really anything you do will be fine, I can't think of a better place to spend a birthday than WDW or DL!

All the Mod and Deluxe resorts as well as the DVC resorts will be happy to help you celebrate your daughter's birthday with a card from her fav character and balloons! We haven't stayed at a budget resort yet, so I can not say they will with 100% certainty, but I would think that this would be a bit of Disney Magic that would be available for everyone.

All you need to do is talk to a CM at your front desk and they will take care of the rest. The only advice I would give you is to make sure to give them at least 24 hours notice, even more if you can. There will not be a charge for this birthday suprise but you can also inquire about other things they can do that might cost a bit! :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful trip! Jennie

Hey thanks for the great suggestions everybody. Sorry, I forgot to mention in my original post that we'll be staying at Coronado Springs.
