We are heading out Wednesday for a weeklong stay at ASSp with DH, DD(9), and DS(13). A few questions...

#1 - I know that in the past, before minifridges were included in the room, people used to bring their own minifridge for the room. With all the mess going on with the fridges being pulled out of rooms we are thinking about bringing our own. I'm assuming that since people did it before that the resort will allow us to have it in our room for this trip. Anybody heard otherwise?

#2 - Since our Disney budget got cut this year, we are planning on eating breakfast in the room to save some $$. My husband is good with having a bowl of cereal each day (given that we can have the fridge in the room) but I'm looking for some other suggestions. I've thought about pastries, doughnuts, and bagels but I would really like to have a protein included...especially for DD who currently appears to be eating like she's having a growth spurt. Anybody have any good ideas about items that might include sausage, bacon, etc.? I've debated purchasing an electric egg cooker and trying hard boiled eggs.

What about peanut butter for protein? Shelf stable, easy transport, no cooking. Bring a loaf of hearty bread...peanut butter sandwiches for breakfast. Throw a banana in there, and you are set.

We don't do cereals, pastries, etc. b/c my kids go nuts having that amount of sugar in the AM w/o some solid protein behind it so this is what we are doing next week.

Can't help you with the fridge.

I would suggest making the hard boiled eggs in advance, and bringing them to store (assuming you have your fridge!) Also, there is pre-cooked bacon that does not need to be refrigerated until after it is opened. It gets warmed in the microwave, if you have one. However, bacon is really more fat than protein.
Also, some cheeses do not need to be refrigerated at all. The LAUGHING COW spreadible cheese wedges come in flavors, plus plain swiss cheese flavor. Spread them on a cracker, and you are good to good. Each wedge is individually wrapped, so nothing ever needs to be refrigerated. Also, small bags of trail mix, or just plain nuts are great for protein breakfasts. Juice boxes never need refrigeration as long as you don't mind them warm, and there are also individually boxed milk and flavored milk options in the same packaging.
Have fun saving money!
