2 of my sons are going to camp in July. (They are going to the Wilds) My other son will be home but working and rehersing for a play. We were going to take him to tour colleges, but it doesn't look like that will now fit into his schedule.
Sooooooo....that leaves me and hubby. He still has a week of vacation time to use up by the end of July.
I was thinking it may be cool to slip away for a bit, just the 2 of us.
However, since I am trying to save every penny for a possible cruise in Oct or a Disney trip in Feb (can't decide which I want more!) I don't know what we could do that would be affordable.
Any ideas???

I have been looking at going to New Orleans to explore the old homes and other interesting sights (no beads for me!)

I have found a hotel that offers a package for $199 for 3 days, 2 nights that includes: a ghost tour, swamp tours, and home tours. I think it would probably be cheaper to go mid week.

And, we SWAs fare out of Manchester, you could probably get airfare there pretty cheap!

How about heading north to Canada? Our dollar is still buying more and some great deals can be had. Montreal is a lot of fun.

A weekend in Salem or Boston, MA

A weekend in the White Mountains , NH

A weekend on Cape Cod

A weekend in Montreal!

(I'd pick Montreal or Salem personally).

How inexpensive??? If you think you could handle the heat, I bet you could get a SMOKING deal to Las Vegas (middle of the summer, cheap flights and hotels).

Locally, I would probably do the Canada thing. Drive up to Maine, take the ferry over to Nova Scotia, and drive the Cabot Trail.

I completely agree. I love Salem. And being from the Montreal area, I know just how much there is to see and do there....not to mention the RESTAURANTS !!!!!! And the Canadian dollar makes it a bonus.

If you don't want to drive that far, there is a lot offered in the Eastern Townships area of Quebec.

I would pick a town that I liked and stay in a B&B. I love B&B's for a nice relaxing getaway. Definitely a different atmosphere froma hotel. :)
