Suggestions for a quiet dinner in DTD

On our upcoming visit, I'm meeting my mother's cousin (so my cousin, but... removed?) as he and his wife live about an hour away. I suggested we eat in DTD as we don't have access to a vehicle. We'd like someplace quiet enough for conversation, but with a wide enough menu choice to please my chicken-finger-eating children.

Suggestions please?

Catal? We like the Uva bar menu too. Also Steakhouse 55? My granddaughter loves dinner there. It is quiet and the menu is really good.
I was thinking Uva or Catal, tbh. I think SH55 might be too far up the road for my poor feet at day's end.

I also heard there was free parking for DTD shoppers? What lot is this at?

I'll go check out Uva/Catal's menu.

Going to throw another idea out there. What about splitsville? The kids can bowl while the adults talk plus if you arent overly comfortable with the family as you dont see them often it gives you something to talk about to keep the conversation going?

I'm not sure we could deal with bowling, although the kids would probably think it was fun.

I second Catal or SH55. It's really not that much further to walk to SH55.
I've passed along the Catal menu to my cousin, along with the Food Trucks and Naples. I'm not sure of their financials as they're a retired couple, so I don't want to choose a place they would have trouble affording.

Is there someplace they can park? I thought I heard there's a 3 hour free parking nearby?

There is a lot for Downtown Disney. It has moved since I've parked in it. Here's what the website says:

Downtown Disney District – Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

Where do I park for the Downtown Disney District and how much does it cost?
A.

Downtown Disney District parking is located at the Simba Lot near Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel—subject to space availability. Standard parking rates will apply.
Enjoy 3 hours of parking when you make a $20 minimum purchase and receive validation from any Downtown Disney location (including quick-service restaurants, merchandise locations and kiosks)—or up to 5 hours of parking with validation from any Downtown Disney table-service restaurant.
Beyond these validations, each additional hour costs $14, charged in 30-minute increments, with a minimum $7 charge after the initial 15-minute grace period. Additionally, the maximum daily parking and lost ticket fee is $56. Parking is subject to capacity.

We had a fabulous dinner at Ralph Brennan's two weeks ago. My filet mignon was outstanding! We sat outside for great people viewing.

DTD Parking is over behind the PPH. Steakhouse is about 3-4 mins further than Catal.

For me, Splitsville is WAY too loud to have a conversational dinner.

Just a heads up, no more food trucks. DTD parking is 3 hours with a $20 purchase. They also have 5 hours free when dining at specific restaurants. Dining at the hotel restaurants, like Steakhouse, you can park at the hotel for 3 hours free (valet or self park.)

Thanks y'all. I'll keep the conversation going with my cousin and maybe we'll end up at SH55 after all (where I've always wanted to go!)

If DTD won't work you can try Garden Walk I think there are several restaurant there. If your feet are tired you can always uber/lyft there. It's about 2-3 blocks from Harbor entrance to Disneyland.

Catal is much more kid friendly than Steakhouse 55. But it's a very expensive restaurant in general.

Naples has been good for us with picky kids, as has Ralph Brennan's, but RB is noisy. Not the best for conversation. Naples is noisy as well, unless you sit outside. Catal is quiet.

What sort of price range are you looking for? I wouldn't necessarily consider any of the DTD table service restaurants to be budget-friendly. But there's Marri's Pizza & Italian on Katella Ave. It's walkable from DL. The food is really excellent, it's not too loud, and the price is right if you don't want to spend $25 a piece on your entrée.

Catal is a wonderful choice as a restaurant but just be aware; it can get a little expensive. Quality of food is really topnotch though.

If budgets are in mind then maybe possibly Tortilla Joe's - though I'm not sure what the volume levels are like there. Catal is reasonably quiet as they have carpet on the floor.

My suggestion is to walk across Harbor Blvd. to Mimi's Cafe. If you sign-up for their promotional listing, you'll receive perpetual BOGO coupons (literally - the day the coupon expires, a new one arrives; be sure to sign up early, as the initial coupon is for free muffins, and it can take a couple weeks to get a BOGO). Plenty of good, affordable food to appease the entire family, and the coupon makes it a bargain. Ask for a table - inside or out - with a view of the monorail.

If you can walk about 10-15 minutes or if your cousin is driving and can meet you at one of the drop off/pick up lots, there are restaurants at GardenWalk on Katella that might work. The Cheesecake Factory has a huge menu which seems to have something for everyone. And most of the meals and salads are large enough to share, so that can cut costs. There is a California Pizza Kitchen, a Bubba Gumps, Fire and Ice (Mongolian BBQ), etc. Some of the restaurants there offer AP discounts, too.

My first thought of a quiet restaurant is SH55. I would for sure check out the menu to see if there's anything that your kids would like.

I think Cheesecake Factory is another great option for a variety of food choices, but not necessarily quiet.

I haven't eaten at Storytellers in quite some time, but I do remember it being fairly quiet. That may be another option.

Have a great trip!
