Planning a trip with the extended family. They are meat and potato people and would like a decent steak one night for dinner. Will have the dining plan, but don't want to use two dining credits for one meal if can be avoided. Any suggestions on where we should eat?

Thanks!

If you're in Epcot - Le Celier. Yachtsman Steakhouse is probably the best on property. Grand Floridian Cafe has a good steak and it's easy to get a reservation there if you're having trouble getting the others.

OP stated that they did not want to use 2 dining credits. Both Le Cellier and Yachtsman require 2 credits each. My DH suggested BOG dinner or Olivia's for a good steak if you are wanting to use only one credit. I've also read that The Wave has a good steak at dinner.

Oops! Totally missed that part about 2 credits! Sorry about that! Le Cellier is fantastic, but if you're not wanting to waste 2 credits, I don't blame you.

The Wave does make a great steak! That restaurant is a hidden gem.

I had a really good New York Strip steak a few months ago at The Coral Reef (Epcot). One table service credit. I often read a lot of negative reviews for this place, but ours was really good. The steak was tender, juicy. and flavorful. Not all experiences are the same, but ours was really good. The atmosphere there is pretty neat as well.

I enjoyed the steak at San Angel Inn and Mama Melrose. Both meals were flavorful and the meat was cooked perfectly.. The steak is not the same as the 2 credit filets, but it was very good.

Over Christmas, I ate steak at BOG and California Grill. The BOG steak was a 9 out of 10. CG steak was 5 out of 10.

I was going to suggest Yachtsman as it was the best steak we've ever eaten, but since signatures are out of the mix how about Teppan Edo. it can give the meat and potato crowds their beloved meat, but also open up some other options for everyone else. Plus you can't beat the fun and interactive enlivenment.

Thanks All!

Original thought was Le Cellier or Yachtsman, but not sure about using two credits. We have a large party going and I was considering taking the kids to one place and the adults that wanted to eat a more formal meal could do that. If they have to use two credits and we don't, well that just complicates things.

To be honest if it was just my immediate family we would just get the quick service plan and pay for a couple of table services out of pocket. Going with the extended family requires a sit down meal daily, as well as a slower pace. My kids and I are rope drop to close and park hoppers. I have to change my way of thinking for this trip.

Thanks again for the suggestions, I will check out these other places.

I also had a good steak at Raglan Road a few years ago. Keep meaning to go back, but wanted to avoid the construction walls and added congestion due to the decreased open space. Now that more things are completed in Disney Springs, will probably add it back to the list for my trip in the fall.

Don't forget Kona Cafe, if you're willing to hike it over to the Poly they have surprisingly good steak (last time we were there it came with maple bacon butter that even my picky eating sister loved!).

I agree with Kona!

I'll second Mama Melrose and BoG. I had a really good stak there two years ago and DD30 raved about her BoG steak last month.

I'm jumping on the BOG bandwagon. We ate there last April and my DH had the grilled strip steak. My DH loves a good steak and he said that this was one of the best that he has ever had.

We have had steaks at all of the following 1 TS places over the years (I'm sure I'm missing some):

BOG
Mama Melrose
Grand Floridian
Raglan Road
Teppan Edo
Sci Fi
Yak and Yeti

And the winner is….. Sci Fi. Yes, believe it or not both of my boys said the steak was amazing and their favorite of all the disney steaks they have had. (I can't comment as my DH and I had the Sci Fi Salad which was awesome and only $8 which we paid OOP for. Steaks we used DP credits.) Plus they had some awesome desserts and you can can get a shake as your drink. We enjoyed the atmosphere too. Pleasant surprise and only wished we would have tried it sooner. (We just ate here for the first time last week)

Yak & Yeti is a favorite but the ribs are our go to meal there over the steak and shrimp.

I have had some very good steaks at the following 1TS restaurants,,,

Whispering Canyon Cafe: Yep, it was a shocker for me. Went in there with every intention of getting the skillet and changed my mind. Didn't regret it for a minute.
Coral Reef: I actually thought the N.Y Strip was much better than the steak at Le Cellier (just opinion)
Captains Grille: We did this as a last minute ADR on our arrival day when we stayed at the YC. To this day this was the most unexpectedly pleasant dining surprise I have encountered in WDW. The steak was excellent as was the service and the rest of the entrees.
The Wave: Don't know if beef tenderloin counts as a steak, but the one I had at the Wave was excellent.

I just got back from Disney and had the steak at BOG (on new years eve). 3 out of the 4 in my party had it. It was delicious. My DS asked for it medium rare. they asked us to cut into it once we received it and they saw my sons and they immediately said it was not medium rare and did not want my son to not enjoy it so they took it away and fired up another one. When they returned with the new steak, it was perfect.

all the steaks were excellent here.

I've found the steaks at the one credit places to generally be about the same quality and have generally enjoyed them. Mama Melrose had a good steak and we always enjoy Teppan Edo. Didn't particularly care for the steak at Rose & Crown but others may have better luck.

I think the best steaks are found at Signature restaurants, however our steaks at T-Rex were outstanding...
