Val & I have recently been doing a bit of sampling various lounges (bars for those less loquacious) and their food offerings. Of course we have only scratched the surface of all the different lounges at WDW and DL. Some places we've enjoyed both food and beverage include; Mizners, Top of the World, Crew's Cup Lounge, Trader Sam's (DLH), Napa Rose, Il Mullino, and Blue Zoo. Obviously that just scratches the surface of what is available on both coasts.

So, I've got a suggestion for a regular (not weekly, but frequent) podcast segment - "Eating at the Bar". That segment would combine the best of Cory and Julie's recent monorail crawl and a mini version of Kevin's restaurant reviews.

I think Tom & Tony would be able to do a wonderful segment for the DL Podcast. I think they've been doing a lot of research out here in the West Coast.

Thought I would add that one of the real advantages of dining at the lounges is that you don't need an ADR. Also for those visiting solo, dining at the lounge is a great way to have some wonderful food at a sit-down place.

You want us to spend more time in lounges??? Hmmmm......twist my arm. :woohoo:

Here's my opinion so far:
The pork "wings" at Trader Sam's are awesome, the lobster nachos at Cove Bar are overrated and the free snack mix at the Hearthstone Lounge is a little spicy (sorry...that's all I got). :thumbsup2

Thanks Tom. I forgot to mention having some munchies in the Hearthstone Lounge. Unfortunately I don't recall what we had. Must not have been memorable.

Mark,
We've enjoyed most of the offerings. I think our favorite so far was the lounge area at Napa Rose where we had their signature pizzetta and some of their fabulous truffled mac n cheese.

Jeff, this sounds like something you should write for the blog.

Seems you are already doing the research.

This is a great idea. I'm sure Corey and Dustin would love it! ;)

A a frequent solo traveler, I love eating at bars, so this topic is of particular interest to me.

One of the things I really like is that the bartenders are often great at figuring out really quickly if I'm in the mood for conversation or if I want to be left alone so I can just chill.

This would make a great call in review.

I agree with this whole thread. I really enjoyed the Hearthstone at Grand Californian. Hmm... I should go do this.

Eating at bars and lounges is my specialty. And I have the food porn to prove it. :rotfl2:

I ate at the Crew's Cup in May, as well as trying out Tutto Gusto. And when I did a "holiday pub crawl" in December, I had some terrific food in the Territory Lounge at the Wilderness Lodge. I think the bar menu changes, because the Disney Food Blog posted different items available recently that didn't match what I ate. I think more research is needed. :rolleyes1
