My DHs family has had several family reunions at WDW, with up to 18 of us there at one time. Typically we are on our own during the day (we may go as small family groups or hang out with another family) but always eat dinner together. That works well as we have a wide range of ages and interests. One person is responsible for each day, confirming ADRs (although my DH and I usually make all of those) and making sure that everyone knows where to be and when to be there.
My DBIL had a great idea for his day. He gave every family a photo scavenger hunt list to be completed before dinner. At this time, "film" was still the norm so we used disposable cameras and took them to a one-hour photo place to share that evening. It would work just as well with digital if someone brings a computer to download them to (we always do because we take SO MANY pictures!) It was a lot of fun to share them and in the end we split them up so we all had photos of everyone. Here was our list:
- group photo with everyone wearing a hat
- group photo on Disney transportation (we got the biggest points on this one by scoring the front car of the monorail)
- photo with a ride operator (which we took care of on the monorail)
- playing a musical instrument
- with a guest (stranger) wearing mouse ears
- line synchronization (okay, this was funny. we had to get everyone in an attraction line to do something together. we got everyone in the HM line to give themselves Mickey ears with their hands and wiggle their fingers. they were surprisingly cooperative.)
- with a foreign family that mirrored our own (we found a Pakistani family with a daughter and son whose ages were close to our own)
- in front of a WDW icon
- with a "good" Disney character
- with a "bad" Disney character (my DS would NOT go near Cruella so it was up to DD to do this one)
- recreating a scene from a Disney film
- eating
- creativity (for this one we had a WDW security guard arresting my DH)
- with a street sweeper (who was thrilled to pose with us!)
- with Mickey
- a hidden Mickey
- a hidden Mickey you create
- a group (of strangers) with matching shirts
It's a fun way to share some laughs and get together in the evening and share your day.
