Suggest Your Must Do & See in MK

Just trying to get a hit list down so I can A) plan FP and B) plan meal locations

Traveling with DS, DS 7, DD 4 and my parents end of April. What are your recommended must dos for these ages within MK?

PS My kids aren't thrill seekers, but do like rides for their age group. Also, I don't want to overload on the princess experiences because my son will get bored.

PPS We are staying at BLT for reference.

Get a FP for 7DMT, it is not as thrilling as it looks and the line is always really long. When going with my extended family, we get FPs for the rides that some of the kiddos (or my brother for that matter) won't ride so that they don't have to wait as long for us to finish the ride.

FP for Peter Pan which is a nice ride for the whole family.

Rather than list everything to do I would list what to skip, based upon the non-thrill seekers in your family.
SKIP: Space Mountain, Astro Orbiter, Stitch's Great Escape, The Haunted Mansion(if the kiddos scare easily), Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mt. Railroad. Possibly Pirates of the Caribbean (it is dark and has a small drop that frightens some, however it may still be under refurb at the time of your trip.)

If you don't want to overload your son on princesses, Do Enchanted Tales with Belle (another great FP option), that way you see Belle, but also get a show. If Anna and Elsa are a must do, get a FP for them. Also Cinderella and Rupunzel are together (one line Two princesses.)

Don't forget to go to the Pete's Silly Side Show, where the lines aren't as long to meet Daisy, Donald, Goofy and Minnie in their circus attire.

We are adults that are ride wimps and enjoy hidden gems such as Tomorrowland People Mover and Carousel of Progress. We also like Mickey's Philharmagic which is a 3D show with smell vision or whatever it is called. We like riding the train all around. We also enjoy Hall of Presidents and Haunted Mansion and Swiss Family Tree House. Of course we go on the classics such as Jungle Cruise, IASW, Peter Pan, and Winnie the Pooh. I am the only one that does Teacups and Dumbo. We also love the parades and fireworks. Sometimes we do Country Bear Jamboree and Tiki Room. I almost forgot the riverboat.

With your kids ages I would start in Fantasyland get FP for Seven Dwarf Mine Train and Peter Pan. Then do Teacups, Dumbo, Barnsotormer, Mickey's Philharmagic, Winnie the Pooh, Small World, Enchanted Tales with Belle, then in tomorrowland I would do Buzz Space ranger Spin and Monsters Inc laugh, then in Adventureland I would do magic carpets, pirates, and jungle cruise. If your kids like scary stuff you could do Haunted Mansion. If your kids aren't thrill ride seekers then I think Frontierland is pretty skippable for them.

One thing you can do is look on youtube for some POV (point of view) ride videos for some of the "thrill" rides. You can probably make a decision on which ones your kids might or might not like.

For instance, as PP already said, 7DMT does not seem as "thrilling" as it looks...it is made for families, not thrill seekers. Though I have not been on it yet, the video tells me it is pretty mild.

Splash Mountain may be a thrill ride to some, but not others. My wife doesn't like coasters, but she loves water rides.

So maybe check out some of the vids. I'm guessing Space Mountain will be too much for them...Big Thunder Mountain may or may not. Here, my mom has always hated roller coasters and thrill rides because she gets sick. Yet she has been on Thunder Mountain with no problems at all.

Ask DS what he wants to ride.

I'd hate to deny a 7 y/o boy a trip on Space Mountain if he wants to ride it.
Since you have multiple adults, it's OK to schedule DS and one adult a SM FP+ while the rest of the group has a princess M&G FP+

When I took our first trip in decades (with kids your same age) I made a big rookie mistake... not looking at the map when booking Fast Passes. I started with all the 'big name' rides like PP, 7DMT, and BTMRR. But I didnt think about walking and park flow. We wasted a lot of time that day walking by things 2 and 3 times before actually having the time to ride them.

Second piece of advice, use the heck out of rider swap. Especially for the rides that are OK for 7 and not for 4. My 7 yr old rode SpMtn 6 times in one day. 3 with me and 3 with my wife.

As for rides that are too aggressive for young kids, we found that the height requirement was the best determinate. Both of my kids (6 & 3 at the time) LOVED 7DMT. And 7 yr old couldnt get enough of BTMRR and SpMtn. They both liked PoTC as long as adult was sitting next to 3 yr old.

Here's a good test. If you were to drive down the street in your neighborhood with the sun roof open. Would your kids want to stick their head up through it? If so, you wont have any problems.

I'm not a Disney Kool-Aid drinker, but pretty much everything is must do. You'll need 2 MK days to do it all though.

Regarding thrill rides, nothing at the MK qualifies as a thrill ride in my kids' minds (two DSs, 12 & 9). They've been riding pretty much everything since about age 5 without any issues. But I do have to say that Space Mountain is probably the most thrilling ride there. As many times as I have ridden it, it still surprises me that the top speed is only 28 mph. BTMR is also somewhat thrilling, but nothing too crazy.
