Suggest a close clean 1-nt hotel?

We plan to drive the 15 hr trek in one day (woof) and then crash (figuratively, not literally) in Orlando the night before our check-in at HRH.

How are the hotels located just outside US/IOA's "borders" ? We want to be close so we can check out of there, and then just sliiiiide on over to HRH around 8:30 the next day, drop the bags, and hit the parks! I thought either the Sleep Inn or Comfort Suites looked ok - those were available for under 80 per nt. Any other places worth looking at?

We are leaving tomorrow morning to make a similiar trip. About 13 hours from Kentucky. Just couldn't justify paying high prices to simply fall in the bed! We are staying at the Comfort Inn Univeral Studios Area (6101 Sand Lake Road). It is about 1 - 2 miles away from the parks. The rate was made with a little league baseball rate which was $67.99 per night. My son is in little league, but we have been told that anyone is eligible for the rate. You can go to choice hotels website and there is a little league link. Follow it directly to make reservations and you will get the rate. I have found it is a bit less expensive than the internet, aaa, etc. Good luck and Good vacationing!

Currently, my favorite budget hotel across the street is the Best Western. They have free breakfast and the rooms are clean. There's also a Best Western Movie land across from WnW for less, but they don't have free breakfast.
Anything on I-Drive is only 1-2 miles from the park. There's a Quality Inn on I-drive people have stayed at with good results. Try this page for a look.

We were very pleased with the Sheraton Studio City Hotel. Very easy to get to US/IOA (right out of parking lot, right at first stop light, over bridge and you were at the parking decks). Free parking at hotel and free shuttle to parks. We stayed 3 nights and paid through the Universal website package deal so I am not sure about the price per night. Very clean hotel and nice helpful staff.

Just got back on the 28th & we did the very same thing, drove straight thru (11.5 hrs). We stayed at LaQuinta convention center one night before going to HRH, clean, comfy, good pool area & good cont. breakfast. We had an expedia rate of 79.00, best of all was the room key sleeve had discounts to alot of US dining & shopping, which we used the whole time we were there!

We have a long journey, drive then flight, and arrive after about 18 hours of trsavel, we have booked into Best Western Movieland for the first night before going over to RPR

Thanks, folks - ended up booking a AAA rate of $71 for Amerisuites right across from US. Liked it because the ressie is refundable if you call by 6 pm same day - if we don't get as far as we planned, at least we won't be out a night's buckage! Also, it met our bed needs (darn families of 5 are such tough cookies to accommodate, LOL - the Amerisuites has 2 beds plus the pull-out sofa). And of course, freebie b'fast the next day before heading over to HRH for check in! I'll be sure to post how it was.... thanks again for the info!

It is literally 3 min from universal property and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

I do exactly the same thing, no sense in wasting a 250 night at HRH when you are getting in very late. Try the Best Western its basically right across the street from the Portifino side of the Universal entrance, right around there anyway, almost walking distance, its very decent and cheap, last time I did it it was only about $50 a night.
