Does anyone on here follow the Sugar Busters Diet? It is similar to Atkins in that it cuts the carbs but it allows brown rice, 100% whole wheat bread, more fruits and vegies. I think it is a more balanced way of eating over long term. Just wondering if anyone does that and has had success.

Barb, I am crashing your thread! I don't have a clue about Sugar Busters, but I just had to say WELCOME to WISH! I am so very glad that you decided to join us, and you posted right away! Good for you! You are off on the right foot, and you'll get lots of support here.

I have to figure out where Horicon is. I was born and raised in Hudson WI, and now I live on the WI and MN border in beautiful Stillwater, MN. There are a ton of B & B's here, and our town has a lot of gorgeous Victorian homes.

I know your job, as a B & B owner is tough, but you need to make time for yourself...it's important! So visit here often! Okay?!

I've never tried it Barb. I've heard good things about it, though.

Hey, do what you think will work for you! Give it a shot.

I'm so glad to see you posting here. Do you want to add the member clipart? Wovenwonder has a bost right HERE telling you how to do that.

This is going to be so much fun having you here with us. I hope you can visit every day, even if just for a few minutes :) No fair lurking, either ;)

Welcome! My DD and my DH follow sugarbusters. It is a good program and provides for a more relaxed eating plan then Atkins (which is what I follow). They enjoy it alot and are doing very well on it. DH has lost 12 pounds and DD (who is on the maintenance form for kids) is flourishing - growing taller, but remaining slender.

Here's a short recap of the Sugarbusters program. I think it very succintly describes the program:

"Sugar Busters is based on the Glycemic Index, which measures the insulin response a food causes. You avoid those foods with high GI, and eat foods with low GI to keep your insulin levels down, and thus lose weight. The basic idea is similar to other low carb plans, just not as restrictive, but very effective. Foods that are avoided include white flour, sugar, honey, white potatoes, beets, corn, pineapple, watermelon, bananas, and any processed grains. You concentrate on whole grains, lean proteins, and fruits and vegetables. Its very important to read labels. Most processed foods include sugar in some form. Anything with more than three grams of sugar per serving is not ok. It is recommended you limit starchy carb food servings to two or three a day while trying to lose. Other than that, there is very little counting involved. "

Just some info for those who are interested in a more moderate low carb program.

I haven't tried it. I think Snoopy tried it once though. If she sees this post maybe she will share her experience with it!

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I don't add sugar to my food anymore, although I won't say I've eliminated it from my diet. I feel like my energy level is pretty even throughout the day now.

Barb!?!?!??! Is that YOU!!! HOORAY for BARB!!!! I'm so proud to see you here- I know you have the book. Have you ever tried this weight loss method? I don't think it really matters what you choose to do. I think any diet plan will work if you stick to it, and you will have good success because you are now posting with us here on WISH. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! I can honestly say that this process for me has been sooooo much easier because of the good people on this board and their TOTAL encouragement. I am so happy , or maybe I should say "hoppy" in honor of our holiday today, that your here! Way to go!
LOVE YA!
