I bought a book of puzzles to work on an Airplane trip.

I can't stop working them!!!!!

These are so much better than Crossword puzzles, they don't make me feel stupid, I can do them!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yep, Nicole and I -- we got hooked at the same time, on our Athens trip. Nicole worked on a book of them the entire flight from Athens to JFK -- 10 1/2 hours. :earseek: When we got home, we picked up another book and pretty much every night, she's up doing them.

Yep, I love them! There's some online sites - one even lets you put in little superscript numbers (you know - the "possibles").

Yes, I think they appeal to the Accountant personality. Solving one makes you feel almost as good as having your Statement of Cash Flows work out correctly.
:cool1:

Just started this week. I do the one in the morning paper. My favorite game however is Tetris. I like it so much that I downloaded it into my phone. It must be the "mom" in me. I like everything neat and put away.

Yeah, but thanks to these, our own checkbook probably won't get balanced for months. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I found my first one in the back of a magazine that I took on our recent Disney trip........I am hooked! Talk about passing the time. I worked on one on the plane and before I knew it "poof" 45 minutes had passed!

Where did you get the book? I looked before my trip to Mexico and couldn't find any. I really could have used it during the 48 hour hurricane too. I ended up buying a stupid fill-in-the-word puzzle book from the hotel gift shop. That thing was so stupid. It looks like a crossword puzzle, but you just fill the words in where they fit. Almost like sudoku with letters. But there's basically no challenge involved.

I do them on www.websudoku.com, but I'd love to know the website that lets you put in the superscript "possibilities".

I am not familiar with these puzzles, but I can appreciate this statement! LOL :rotfl: I will have my CPA license sometime early next year!

I have a new book to do on the flight for our trip. Hopefully it will help pass the 9 1/2 hours!!

You should be able to find them in any bookstore. The airport B&N we were in had them front and center in their own display. :)

puffkin -- good luck on the exam! Although I'm irritated that people don't have to do the 2 day marathon session in a crappy building with wooden chairs ;) , it's still not an easy exam to pass.

I passed the good old paper exam back in November of 2002. I think it was the second to last time it was offered before the switch to computer. Studied like crazy and passed it all in one shot, didn't want to have to take it again especially with the uncertainty of what the computer exam would involve. However, with a job switch, and some other things, I just got enough experience hours this year. Now I just need to fulfill the 80 hours of continuing education before I can apply for the license. I will have that in December, so should have my license in hand next year. It has been such a long odyssey, I can't wait. The ironic thing is, I don't really need the license for my job now  But I am going to get that sucker if it kills me! Sorry to hijack the thread, but thanks for the encouragement, those on the outside don't really understand what it means to be a CPA.

Here's the one I play that allows you to type in numbers:

There's only one puzzle per day though!

I am so hooked on this game! My husband copies the one in the paper (by hand! using a pen!) and then he and I race to see who can finish first. We're both engineers and it appeals to our inner math geek!

I like this site . Somebody here gave it to me a few months ago. I like how you can scroll the numbers with the mouse. I only wish it had a timer though. There's only one puzzle per day, but they're archived, so you can go back and do old puzzles.

Oh my goodness I'm addicted too! Although i'm not that good at it yet. I posted a thread about it last week and someone posted this great site:

 wow! I'm famous! I'm referenced from another thread!!! :rotfl2: Scoutsmom-hope the site helped you...

This site has daily downloads, how-tos, extra graphs, and a helper where you can plug numbers in and it will help you solve the puzzles if you're stuck...
and if you are really good - there is even a 3-D sudoku puzzle :earseek:

B & N does have books, they are located by the crossword puzzles. I keep one in my car for soccer practice, dance practice, etc...

Thank you!!

And not only do puzzle games pass the time, they delay the onset of Alzheimers or Senile Dementia. You have to use those neurons and synapsis to keep them sharp!! ;)
