Suddenly Canada looks so small.

Yuk, it really does ruin the look of that side of World Showcase. I wonder how much can be seen from in front of Canada.

The front of DCA's Soarin looks better, but even it could have used a bit more "runway" and plane themeing. Where is the entrance going to be? Inside the Land Pavillion?

DCA cut the height of their bulding by putting much of it underground. Not an option in Florida with the high water tables.

The queue for Soaring will be in the Land building, specifically in the old Food Rocks/Kitchen Kaberet show area.

That's an incredible shot. What seems very strange is how close The Land actually is to Canada. When you walk to TL from Canada, you'd swear it was a mile away.

I have seen the building rising from the back from the walk ways. But I haven't seen it from that angle. :scared1:

I'm also sure it will look different when completed and with paint. Scenic murals can disguise a lot....although, seeing the location of this, I can't help thinking that perhaps the Wonders of Life area may have been more appropriate for this ride. I was only on it a couple of times in 2001, just prior to 9-11, so my memory of it isn't the best. I know it's a very good ride, and I remember the scents and flying sensations, but was the movie ecology based, or more about the landscape/culture of CA?

I also hope the building at least gets a sky/mountains paint job. A new attraction for Canad would also have to be pretty tall to cover it. The Land isnt as close to Canada as you think. Soarin is easily the same size as the Land and sits in between it and Canada as well as stretching behind Imagination. It makes you think whether they even bothered checking World Showcase sightlines because the sightlines from Future World are fine.

It seems that someone has a really long telephoto lens, and that the photographer lined up Canada and Soarin' just right.

I was just at Epcot Tuesday and snapped a couple pictures of the new building. I'll have to post and share them. I noticed that in the Japan area the new building even crowded out England a bit.

Eck! This looks awful right now. Hopefully there will be some way to disguise this because right now it makes being able to see the Dolphin a lot less of a big deal.

Good grief, They will soon turn WS into a carnival. What does the ride have to do with countries?

WOW!!! Surely they are going to camouflage this some how! YIKES!!!
Since I own at BCV I'm curious if this can also be seen from over there?

I was just there yesterday, and IMHO it doesn't look any worse than what Spaceship Earth, the Tower of Terror and the Swan/Dolphin look like from the World Showcase Lagoon. It's not all that visible from most of the promenade. It's just new and people aren't used to it - that's why it seems to stand out so much right now.
It definitely won't take a new attraction to "repair the damage", if it really turns out to be distracting. Adding a few feet to the Rocky Mountains would do just fine.... and of course, there isn't a whole lot of room back there to install a major ride as has been suggested.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that they already knew what they were going to do behind Canada to camoflage the "Soarin'" building. I want to say add to the mountains, but I'll be darned if I can remember where the heck I read/heard it!

It's in the construction phase, so right now it's kind of an eyesore. Disney is usually pretty good about taking "theme" and sightlines into consideration. When all is said and done, I am sure it will be fine.

OMG, that thing is huge - I would not want to be in BCV rooms X52, X50, x48, X46 and further down the hall and see that thing past the trees

yuck!

thanks

We walked around WS today and I purposely looked at the surrounding skyline.
I never saw Soarin' towering over Canada, as it is the photo. They must have just found an angle/placement where it REALLY shows. Wonder if they were in a boat....
And really -- in WS other buildings are easily viewed too, and no one has commented. Example: Test Track, Swan/Dolphin and even the Tower of Terror.
Guests can even see the plain back side of the Mexico building. And the side/back of TT isn't exactly a lovely building. ;)
With ToT at least they made it so it kinda blends in with the background for Morocco.

You can see it at BVC. We had a room that faced that way at Easter. The Soaring Ride building was taller than most of the trees.
P.S. We had a room on the 3rd. floor. You may see more of it, if you are on one of the higher floors!
