Suddenly Busy?

Because you're not the only person who has read those online descriptions of early December being a great time to go. You've read it, I've read it, tens of thousands of prospective Disney visitors have read it. So it gradually becomes a very popular time to visit. The Internet is a powerful thing.

This is why I've said that social media is a gift and a curse! It's great to read and learn things, but when all the secrets come out, there's no more secrets to be had.

I am booked for December 2nd - 9th at a Deluxe resort. Historically, I have read over and over that this is a great time to visit. If that is the case, why is there such limited availability and why do all of the planning websites "predict" heavy crowds? When I looked last year it was predicted as light and moderate crowds. Is it no longer a tad bit slower?

We go during the same time frame. Last December we were there from the 3rd-12th, this December we'll be there from the 3rd-14th, and it definitely isn't low crowds anymore. For the past 2 years, and I anticipate it this year too, our December trip has been a lot more crowded than our June trip. We've already booked this year but will be switching back to early-mid November for 2018. I do think free dining has a lot to do with it and it certainly makes making ADRs a pain in the rear. I was on at 7:00 am on our 180-day mark and the pickings were slim. No character breakfast availability, no character lunch or dinner availability, etc. My daughter enjoys those meals so I always book a handful of them. I've resorted to booking the bare bones and then searching for what we want the day prior.

We have been around those dates a few times over the past 6 years. It's one of the most magical times to go. MK will be crowded on Saturdays, but otherwise we rarely have issues with crowd levels at that time of the yea.r We will most likely be back again the first 10 days of December this year again! Have fun!

I hope you are staying offsite then. OR Deluxe or maybe you are DVC owners? Getting a room difficult.

Speaking of Pop Warner, do we know the exact resorts they will be staying at this time? In 2014 I was at CRT there last couple of days they were there. It wasn't too bad. In 2014 we went 12/12-21 and only the last two days were crowded. Was hoping for a little bit calmer this time so going earlier.

Great time to be there! If you are a Neil Patrick Harris fan, he usually is the narrator for the Candlelight Processional the first couple of days in December. Or, if you like Jim Shore, a lot of the time he is there signing his pieces, and they have a special piece that is only released at the signing. The crowds aren't bad, and we have been pretty successful with manageable crowds at MVMCP.

I dont really care about Neil Patrick Harris, but I read about some others who were the at that time I would like to see if they come back.
My wife will go nuts about Jim Shore. Guess I better start working OT now. haha
