I am so torn!!! October trip

All with 9 nights-air-hoppers-air for 2 adults and 3 kids

Contempory 6757.00
OKW 5824.00
POR Riverside 4919.00

My husband would naturally just pick the cheapest. I would naturally pick the most expensive LOL

OKW would be buying points from the DVC board. I don't know what to do!!

Is it just the two of you or are you bringing kids? Also, do you usually spend a lot of time at the resort?

It's for all of us (5). We usually go back to the resort after lunch for swim rest time and then back out to a different park for dinner.

We are so used to OKW and all the room. BUT I really really like POR. I really like having the food court.

What size room would it be at OKW?
If it's a 2 bedroom then that would be my choice because of the 3 kids. The room is huge and they would have their own bedroom. You would also have a full kitchen which could save you time and money having breakfast in the room before you head out for the day. Also a full washer/dryer, living room and just lots of space! I have 2 kids and we are DVC'ers so we are spoiled with the extra room and we spend a lot of time relaxing at our resort mixed in with some park days.

If it is just a place you will sleep in then I would probably go for the cheapest one.

I have stayed at 2 of your 3 options. DH is a resort snob and didn't care for POR. The rooms were small, beds uncomfortable and he just didn't like it. I thought it was fine for the night we stood there to just sleep before our DVC stay. He said never again! We just took an adults only trip in Oct. to the CR and it was great and we were in the Tower with an MK view which was to die for! However, we had mousekeeping issues and room issues and check in issues and the resort is going through so much construction we vowed not to return until it was completed!(and the addition is a DVC resort!;) )
We had rented points from this board before becoming members and it was very simple and easy process. It saved us money too. I think SSR would be comparable to the price of OKW, would you consider that? Sorry, don't want to add more to your plate but I would pick that resort over the 3 you listed. Walking distance to DtD, beautiful room decor, great CS and TS restaurant and great pools, community hall, spa, friendly CM's and just a beautiful resort all around.

DISNIK- This would be our 4th time at OKW and we stay in a 1 bedroom and it's plenty big. I really liked POR and this would be our 5th time staying there but we have not stayed there since it changed from Dixie Landings.

The Contempory is out as I do not want to spend 7K. We also like to go away a few times during the year to other places. If it was our 1 and only trip a year I would spend the money.

Not sure I want to deal with the POR buses as we NEVER had a problem with the OKW ones. We sometimes rent a car but we really do not like to. We see no reason.

It sounds to me like you have your answer, OKW! Go for it! Why mess with a good thing?LOL You are familiar with it and have had good experiences there before. BTW, how has the DVC bug not bitten you yet?!!!;)

Not to throw confusion on the fire, but, we LOVED POR.....And, as a family, I would say we have more "deluxe" taste, I was nervous not booking a deluxe and we ended up just LOVING POR.

-Bus service was great, never had long waits, usually just a few minutes, if at all.
-The pool was wonderful, fun waterfalls, and a great slide! I went on it w/DD8 all of the time. There is a nice hottub right by the pool, as well as the poolside bar. Also, a playground there.
-The foodcourt had a wide range of choices, including healthy ones. It was never too crowded or noisy.
-The theme and grounds are immaculate, relaxing, beautiful, nice to walk around.
-The room had plenty of room for our family of 3, could have been plenty more for more....The curtain was nice that seperated the changing area. It had two sinks in the bathroom, a nice hanging area for clothes, etc. The rooms are certainly not huge but other than watching TV, napping, or sleeping, what are you truly going to do in the room. There is a table for using a computer as well.

Honestly, I think POR is very very nice. Unless you are truly going to utilize the kitchen at OKW to save money on eating out, I personally wouldn't spend the nearly $1,000 for it. I would take that money and save it, spend it on souvs., or spend it on extras you wouldn't be able to do otherwise.

We went back to the resort every afternoon for resting, and, found there was lots to do: pool, hot tub, arcade, boat ride to POFQ or DTD if you want, so many options.

I agree with the above poster ... we've stayed at several WDW resorts, and of all of them POR was our favorite. It's absolutely gorgeous, with a great restaurant, and a large and wonderful food court and gift shop. The room was also plenty big enough for our family of 4. It seems like it should be priced higher than it is, for you truly get a lot of bang for your buck there.

OKW gets my vote. IMO conveinence is the most important thing in a room/hotel, and OKW has it with the villas, kitchens, etc. :)

Is OKW a 1br or 2br. I believe that if you're renting points, you can have 5 in a 1br. If you're paying $$, you can only book 4 people in the 1br.

A 2br OKW is a clear winner. Full kitchen, 2 baths, private room for mom and dad...

If the prices you listed are for a 2br, and you would consider all sharing one bathroom, then an OKW 1br would probably be the cheapest.

7 of us stayed in an OKW 2br. There were 3 adults, 2 teen boys and 2 preteen boys. All the boys chose to stay in the living room on air mattresses. We had a blast.

To me, I would go the cheapest, and put that extra money into another trip!!

and put that extra money into another trip!!

well never thought of it that way lol

well the good thing is that I have stayed multiple times at each so I clearly know what to expect.

Someday I am going to get to a monorail resort!!

I would choose POR, I've never stayed there but I did a moderate and it was awesome. However the Contemporary would be convenient to get back to since its on the monorail. I'd save the extra money by staying at POR and go on a trip just you and your hubby and stay @ the Contemporary!!!

Totally agree with this, went to book a Deluxe once, and, realized that I could book two trips at a value or moderate for that price.

BUT, if you are going to cook most of your meals in the kitchen, than, the price diff. btwn. POR & OKW could even out some, but, for my family, we would never want to spend our vaca. cooking.
